How to use an e gift card?

So unexpectedly I got a $25 e gift card from Marriott for my birthday (they've never cared about it before). I registered it with the Marriott app and all, and I have a Marriott stay coming up in a couple weeks. My question is whether I can use it for a bunch of food items at the pantry area WITHOUT charging it to the room first and deducting the gift card on the final bill (I assume that's the default way). Reason is because I need to send the hotel receipt for reimbursement and don't want to risk it not being reimbursed if they see I charged food to the room. Any thoughts are appreciated, TIA!

Product change to a Citi CC today - FYI

Just another data point for those interested - I was able to PC my Strata Premier to a CCC just now via the Citi chat. I would imagine it would work all day today for sure. Hope this helps anyone interested.
