Character ranking evolved?

Just watched Threshold again (oh boy!), and noticed the prospect of Paris coming to harm left me quite cold. There's something annoying about his general attitude, and overall I rate him pretty low among the main roster.

So, I'm currently on late season 2, and it's been roughly 5 years since my last run through. Right now I'd rank the main characters in this order:

  1. Janeway

  2. Torres

  3. Tuvok

  4. Doctor

  5. Seven

  6. Kim

  7. Chakotay

  8. Neelix

  9. Paris

  10. Kes

This has changed a fair bit since my first viewing, where Paris and Kim would be switched, probably Tuvok up top and Neelix at the very bottom. I even had more time for Chakotay on first viewing, but that has definitely changed. Janeway has gone up the most in my estimation.

Have your character preferences changed much over the years?

What films have the main cast appeared in?

Excluding guest stars like Brad Dourif.

The main ones I know about:

Tim Russ: Spaceballs

Robert Beltran: Lone Wolf McQuade

Robert Picardo: Inner Space, The Howling

Any other fairly mainstream films I've overlooked?

I could ask ChatGPT, but this is more fun. :)

Edit: for those who need the clarification, the above throwaway AI example was a playful reference to how this mode of engagement with technology is at the center of everything right now. I think most people got that.

Nocturnal seizure + BIG adrenaline surge?

I know symptoms can vary wildly, but I'm really keen to find out if anyone has experiences similar to mine. It can be a bit lonely seeing yourself as a freak.

What happens?

I have 2-3 very brief frontal lobe seizures most nights, normally in the first few hours. I am fully asleep and usually don't remember anything about it. We only discovered them thanks to a security camera left recording overnight.

BUT every now and then I have a truly terrifying experience. Basically I become semi conscious and immediately a huge, HUGE adrenaline surge hits me, accompanied by a feeling that I'm experiencing death right here and now. I normally start shouting in terror, crawl or jump out of bed and end up face down on the floor somewhere in the bedroom or hallway. That's when I become fully conscious and have to wait a minute for my breathing to calm down. When it's happening, my heart feels like it will burst straight out of my chest, and there's no thought process, so it's not like I can talk myself down. Thankfully I do calm down naturally quite quickly.

I've checked the camera recordings and every time these events occur they always start with several big bodily convulsions. Those are definitely the seizures, but I don't know what the f*** the massive adrenaline rushes are all about. Are they part of the seizure too or something else? That's why I'm hoping to find someone else with first hand experience.

It's unbelievably terrifying when it happens, but mercifully short-lived. I'm embarrassed that my neighbours must think I'm crazy, as the walls are not very thick, and I really do shout loudly! I had been considering approaching them about it, but that might make them uncomfortable.

DVLA and driving

Bit pissed off at the moment as I've had a letter telling me I'm no longer allowed to drive. At all. I'm to post my driving license back to the DVLA immediately.

Thing is, my seizures are 100% sleep based. My neurologist told me this shouldn't affect my ability to drive safely, so I'm hoping I can contest it. Any other UK folk out there managed to retain their permission to drive despite having seizures on their medical records?

Any need for electrolytes for 36H fast?

As per title, are these really necessary for such a short fasting period? Do people take them as a precaution to avoid potential headaches and weakness?

Thanks!

Day 0 (again)

Here we go again, sigh.

Are we allowed to look for accountability partners here, or does that breach the rules?

If it's ok, I'd be interested in hearing from other long-suffering men in their 40s-50s, especially in UK/Europe.
