Update on the post on my dislike on the way Hyundai handled my warranty fix.

So, to know more, please checkout my previous post - https://www.reddit.com/r/CarsAustralia/comments/1tw7xy6/aita_to_think_that_the_service_centre_did_a/

Comments on the original post gave me the confidence on chasing up with Hyundai on the way they handled my warranty fix. I first added a 1 star review on Google maps on their service center mentioning the shitty job they did. But I knew they'll ignore it.

When I received my car, they didn't replace the switch and told me the warranty approval takes 2-3 days. A whole week has passed and I heard nothing from them. Then I got the idea from one of the commentors on my original post that in their case, they reached out to Subaru directly instead of the service center and they sorted it out for them.

I then reached out to Hyundai's official page and lodged a formal complaint against them. I also mentioned particulars in my complaint like the address of the service center, the invoice number apart from the rego and VIN of my car.

Within 3 hours, I get a call from the service manager of the place and they apologized for the lack of communication from their team's part, that was my only complaint - lack of communication because I have no idea what the fuck PWA request means on the invoice as well as how the whole warranty process works for Hyundai which was never explained to me in the first place.

From there, the manager provided me all the info like when the part is arriving, when can I bring my car in as well as providing me a courtesy car for the day (which it turns out, they rarely do).

Moral of the story - don't be afraid to shove a big one up their arse if you feel like they didn't do a good job with their service.

1300+ km travelled in 3 days…

That’s right, 1300+ km of Aussie highway travelled in 3 days. I was already impressed by the performance of my i30 N sedan. However I was sceptical about the range of my car in a full tank because it would show me just above 400 km of range when I’d drive it everyday. So, started off from Melbourne with a full tank and also filled up a 10L Jerry can just in case.

NOTE - before starting my journey, I also did my 40k km service which was due a few days before my journey, just to be extra sure.

1st day travel from Melbourne to Ouyen - 450 km

Handled the highways and freeways without breaking a sweat. The road noise was quite a bit but comfortable regardless. Got to our Airbnb with HALF a tank full. The landlady welcomed us with a smile on her face as well as guided us around. Also met such lovely people in Ouyen. Spotted a massive John Deere 9RX tractor on our way as well.

2nd day travel from Ouyen to Salt Lake (Dimboora) to Lake Tyrrell and back to Ouyen - 455 km

I filled up the tank in Ouyen before heading off and the result were the same, still came back with half tank full. Spotted 3 Versatile tractors as well as got stopped for a regular booze test on the road. Since the days are shorter during June, it was pitch black after 6 PM when we were coming back and I was shit scared of kangaroos jumping on the road. No street lights, nothing. Only the LED headlights and my girl keeping me calm and focused. Came back home safely.

3rd day travel from Ouyen back to Melbourne - 480 km

As usual, filled up the tank, checked the tyres and the pressure in them. No problem driving back home.

All in all, it was an amazing trip. Met great people, saw huge agricultural machinery and had a quality time!

AITA to think that the service centre did a shitty job of explaining the warranty process?

I recently took my car for service to Hyundai as well as mentioned about the issue with the light switch - https://www.reddit.com/r/ElantraN/comments/1tnwp2r/comment/ooihcg6/?screen_view_count=1

Initially they did the check and mentioned about how my wipers are worn out, the cabin air filter requires replacing as well as requires 'cabin air ventilation service' (whatever that means), jumping the price from initial quoted $470 to $930 but there was no mention about the light switch issue that I was facing. I pressed back asking about the update on that first. Also I declined on all those since I went to my local part store and replaced those things myself.

They eventually got back and said 'we are getting an approval from warranty to replace the switch'. Uh, no one at the service centre when I was dropping off my car, told me how the whole warranty process works. I was like 'okay'. An hour later I got the confirmation that my car is ready. In my mind I was like 'oh that was quick with the fix'. Little did I know its still getting approved and no one told me about the time-frame on this whole process.

I went in, got the keys and thinking that the light switch issue has been fixed, I tried right there and saw the issue is still there. I was annoyed at that time. Went back in, told them the issue is still there and THEN they explained they haven't replaced it yet because it still getting approved. Then I pressed on further info like how long does it take for the approval? When will the part arrive? What will be next process after that?

Is it bad on my part to think that they should've been crystal clear about the whole process? Its not like an average customer goes through the warranty repair all the time and knows about the whole process by heart.

What'd you guys think?

Weird issue with the headlight switch. Any idea why it’s happening?

I’ve already booked in a visit to the dealership for service so, will get it fixed then too but I was wondering if anyone has faced this issue.

I am planning to get new bigger capacity drives for my NAS. Plan in the description.

So, in my current setup, I got 2 NAS. My main one got 6x 2TB (in Raid Z1) drives and I've created a backup NAS with 4x 4TB drives (in Raid Z1). I've setup a replication task from my main NAS to my backup NAS (please see the pictures). Once I've removed my old drives from my main NAS and put in bigger drives (Lets say 4x 8TB in Raid Z1), do I just press the 'Restore' button and that's it or do I need to change some config before I press the button?

So, my girlfriend and I went to Marysville a few weeks ago. On our way, we went through a town called 'Yarra Glen'. After Yarra Glen came the Black Spur Drive, a 14 km long road full of twisties and the speed limit of 80 kmph (If your car is capable). When we passed Yarra Glen, there was a group of motorcyclists that joined us (mostly BMWs and other adventure bikes) and I knew they are not gonna go slow in these twisties (being a part of a motorcycle club in the past myself). Either I have to keep up with their pace or I have to give them way. So, I shifted to N mode throughout the twisties and honestly, it was so easy! It was so easy to take those turns in my i30N Sedan that the cars in front of me had to give me way because they knew they can't keep up.

Ohh it was a blast driving on that road and I will love to do that all over again in the near future. Maybe ask my mates to come out with their cars as well.
