Catheter related pain
Hello im a 16 years old girl diagnosed with vulvodynia. I also have a few other diagnoses like autism endometriosis mcas and heds. This past week ive been dealing with urinary retention. Its caused by my mcas and has happened before. It ended when I got a suprabuic catheter and that is what will need to happen this time as well. The problem is that while I wait for the surgery to put the catheter in i need a regular catheter for at least another week, (ive had one since last Monday.) I struggle with this a lot as my vulvodynia makes that catheter irrate my urethra to the point of bleeding and extreme pain. The longer I have the catheter in the worse the pain gets. I can only sit up for about half an hour at a time and can only stand for a few minutes. Im already on codine and tramadol on advice from the doctors and the fact I have chronic pain. Im just wondering if anyone has gone through the same thing, as the advice online is always centered around men. And if you have, if anything has helped to ease the pain. Sorry for the word vomit and sorry if this dosent really fit in the subreddit, my mother and I have looked around and all the medical papers always say you should get no pain from catheters so they aren't very helpful. Thank you for reading.😼
