Does anyone feel the urine in their urethra but no pressure in bladder/pelvis

I am female and I never feel any pressure in my pelvic area and the only sensation I feel when I need to go is all the pee really low down in my urethra.

Thing is it’s not just a phantom sensation as when I go to the toilet I pee a good amount.

I don’t get it🙈

Urethral stricture

Recently, I had a scare that my urethral stricture seemed to be worse where I had a day of urine flow was extremely weak. I made an appointment for a urologist for the following week, since that was the earliest they could see me. Leading up to the appointment, my urine flow seemed to approve immensely pretty much to normal, but I decided to go ahead and go to the appointment. The urologist didn’t do any tests or anything, I told him my past about my urethra stricture, and he immediately went into saying we need to dilate you and scheduled an appointment for the following month.

Is this normal? I felt like there should have been a urine flow test or something to see if dilation is even necessary.

I’m 27 and had pan-urethral stricture urethroplasty - AMA

Hi everyone,

I’m 27 years old and recently underwent urethroplasty surgery in Pune, India, at UroKul Hospital.

I had a long pan-urethral stricture and underwent spiral preputial graft urethroplasty.

It has now been around 1.5 months since my surgery, and I thought I’d do an AMA for anyone who is considering urethroplasty, going through recovery, or simply wants to know what the experience is like.

Feel free to ask me anything.

How urethral stricture affects you mentally?

How can a urethral stricture affect someone mentally and emotionally? Can the stress and anxiety from dealing with it cause major changes in mood, personality, or behavior?

It sucks and has affected my life alot. Today I asked my urologist to do a Uroflowmetry exam, after the exam he says he suspects a constriction

These were my results.

Uroflow Details: Complexity: complex Pre-void volume (mL): 559 Voiding duration (sec): 50.3 Average flow rate (mL/sec): 9.4 Max flow rate (mL/sec): 14.5 Type of curve: flattened Voided urine (mL): 465 Residual urine (mL): 94 Normal void for patient: yes

What do you guys think or can conclude from this test? He scheduled a cystoscopy for further evaluation 1 month from now.

How's life with Cystofix (suprapubic catheter)?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to connect with anyone here who lives with a Cystofix (suprapubic catheter). I'm writing this with some help of AI to preserve energy.

I'm currently looking into getting one, and while the doctors give you the official medical spiel, I want to know what it’s actually like to live with on a day-to-day basis from a disabled perspective.

Specifically, I’d love to hear your honest experiences with:

  • Leakage and bypass: How often does it actually leak around the site or down below? How do you manage it?
  • Bladder spasms: Did getting the catheter trigger severe cramping or spasms for you?
  • Blockages & maintenance: How often do you deal with sediment, mucus, or blockages? If you have personal assistants/carers, do they manage your flushes and routine changes?
  • Comfort and positioning: How does it feel while sitting in a wheelchair for long periods? Does the tubing get in the way of transfers?

Please give me all the raw truths—especially the potential troubles, annoying quirks, or hidden life-savers that the hospitals don't always tell you about beforehand.

Thanks so much in advance!

"Grocery list" of things to get

So, as a lot of people here, I'm going to have urethroplasty surgery done. Upcoming wednesday is when the party starts. This party is going to require some decorations, as does every party.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what's good to have for the recovery? Currently looking into a U-shaped pressure reducing pillow.

All tips are very welcome and very much appreciated. 😄

Once a stricture always a stricture is that true?

I fucked up big time. I went to a cheap clinic in India and just one week before I went there I ruled out a stricture. They complicated my case purposefully by inserting a catheter with no lubrication then tugging it laterally via external force during a urodynamics test. Cystoscopy came back normal but I still think it's a subtle stricture. This is the worse disease in the world as there is no 100 percent cure. Even urethroplasty you may never be the same again down there and it could come back right?

Strange bladder resistance

I self-catheterize every two days. I've been doing this for years, but over the past year I get resistance in the bladder AFTER urine starts to flow. Post cystoscopy, my urologist says that the resistance is ALL in the urethra. Any ideas on how I can drain from the bladder using a catheter WITHOUT the catheter going all the way through to the bladder?

Optilume and Future Fertility

Hi everyone,

I’m a 37-year-old male and I’m scheduled to have the Optilume drug-coated balloon procedure for a urethral stricture.

My urologist advised me to wait 3 months before trying for a baby. However, I read that the FDA recommends waiting at least 6 months because of the paclitaxel coating.

I’m okay with waiting 6 months. My main concern is whether this procedure can affect my ability to become a father in the future.

I wanted to ask people who have had Optilume:

  1. Did your doctor advise you to wait 3 months or 6 months?
  2. Has anyone successfully conceived or had a baby after Optilume?
  3. Did anyone have any fertility or sperm-related problems afterward?
  4. Has anyone done a semen analysis before and after Optilume? Were there any changes?
  5. Did your urologist mention any concerns about having children in the future?

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through this and later tried to have a baby.

So I had my cystoscopy today and I have been undiagnosed of having a stricture...?

I was diagnosed with a urethral stricture through a urethrogram with contrast around 2 years ago now. The urethrogram showed a distal narrowing near the tip, and dye would not flow through for a proper reading. I then relaxed as much as I could (as it was quite invasive ofcourse) and the dye flowed, the doctor said what I'm doing is working, and they took the readings.

I was told to have a urethral stricture, and subsequently my urologist wanted to dilate me within that week. I refused dilation after hearing all the horror stories and did not see how dilation would actually address my main symptoms.

It's been a couple years now of going to different urologists and many doctors to try and resolve my issue, my latest one wished to perform a cystoscopy to check my bladder, and said he may not be able to get to the bladder due to the stricture, and if that's the case, it's diagnostic in itself and he will withdraw.

I had it done today. I was dreading the cystoscopy, but honestly the anticipation is much worse than the procedure, for anyone wondering. Either way, he said I do NOT have a stricture. So I'm just not even sure what the next step is anymore.

He can't help me whatsoever, he says that my urethra (which previously had a stricture diagnosis from a urethrogram) is completely fine, and so is my bladder, so I will need to find a specialist in a different field for my symptoms.

Optilume for BPH Procedure - Would like to compare notes with others.

Had Optilume for BPH 35 days ago Followed by 3 days of 22FR large catheter. It should be noted Catheter was not good but it should have NOT have been that way. The belief is that the ballon in the bladder was overinflated by 20ccs of Sterile water. (maybe by Accident?) Once the Catheter was removed gave me great relief. .As of now urine is clear/yellow, great stream (off the charts per the nurse) but I am getting some dribbling post urination, also have some minor blood on pad. I have ejaculated a few times, it felt good but little semen. I also had rectal (not anus) pain which I was told was to be expected. It comes and goes but urologist says to be expected as a part of healing?/ I was wondering what other guys experienced at this stage? Per the nurse she said 3 to 6 months plus for full recovery. Prior to procedure I was getting up several times a night to urinate but now..that has been reduced. My goal in this was to reduce eliminate urination at night and to stop taking Alfuzion. What are other mens experiences? Note: I surely hope I can eventually ejaculate again with a full load of semen.

Catheter related pain

Hello im a 16 years old girl diagnosed with vulvodynia. I also have a few other diagnoses like autism endometriosis mcas and heds. This past week ive been dealing with urinary retention. Its caused by my mcas and has happened before. It ended when I got a suprabuic catheter and that is what will need to happen this time as well. The problem is that while I wait for the surgery to put the catheter in i need a regular catheter for at least another week, (ive had one since last Monday.) I struggle with this a lot as my vulvodynia makes that catheter irrate my urethra to the point of bleeding and extreme pain. The longer I have the catheter in the worse the pain gets. I can only sit up for about half an hour at a time and can only stand for a few minutes. Im already on codine and tramadol on advice from the doctors and the fact I have chronic pain. Im just wondering if anyone has gone through the same thing, as the advice online is always centered around men. And if you have, if anything has helped to ease the pain. Sorry for the word vomit and sorry if this dosent really fit in the subreddit, my mother and I have looked around and all the medical papers always say you should get no pain from catheters so they aren't very helpful. Thank you for reading.😼

Have a cystoscopy occurring tomorrow, quite intimidated

Hi there. I have a confirmed distal narrowing near the tip of my penis. I had a urethrogram around 2 years ago which confirmed this.

I have developed other issues since and now am with a new urologist, who wants to perform a cystoscopy. I'm having it done tomorrow and I'm very intimidated. I can't imagine how it won't be one of the worst experiences of my life.

But my main concern is, will there not be a good chance this worsens the stricture? The doctor wants to go to my bladder and put saline in there, but my stricture is near the tip, so... will it not have be stretched during this?

I just don't want to end up with worse issues and longer lasting damage due to a simple, yet terrifying routine procedure

Has anyone had stream slowdown post procedure but then stabilize?

I had a bulbar stricture which was treated with Optilume. It recurred after about 5 months very suddenly and I had an end to end urethroplasty. after only about 6 weeks post catheter removal my stream suddenly got very slow again. After a cystoscopy, I underwent another Optilume procedure as an emergency patient. It is now about 9 weeks later and my stream has been slowing down again, however it seems to have stabilized. It is nothing like the fire hose after the procedure, but still ok. I empty completely in about a minute.

I’m wondering if anyone has had this happen and then was ok for a much longer time with the more moderate flow? Or does the initial slowdown mean the stricture is returning and I will need another urethroplasty? I hate to redo the surgery, especially since it didn’t work in the first place, but my urologist said that is the next step If it continues to slow down. This time would require a graft.

Has anyone experienced this? Do you think I might be ok and just live with a more moderate flow? Would you have another urethroplasty even though the first one failed? Thanks for any comments.
