Serious question no judging

So for a little context I come from a background of very egotistical and prideful background where mental health issues are seen as a weakness and frowned upon. Looking at our family history, I can confidently say that almost every one in my bloodline self medicated with alcohol and other substances.

Anyways, I followed the same pattern to say the least. A few months ago I secretly went through a diagnosis and turns out I have both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive ADHD. I’ve since been working with my doctor to find medication that works for me, we have had to increase the dosage for my aderrall extended release 3 times now and it’s genuinely don’t see a difference.

Now he’s is where the question comes in place— whenever I I take my medication and take 3 shots or drink 2 pints of beer and take the medication before my day starts, I feel so active, I get so much work done, almost all of the tabs in my head closes. But if I take the medication alone, I just feel nothing. Also when I take the 3 shots and don’t take the medication, I don’t feel anything either, I lazy, easily forgets, distracted and always cranky and easily triggered.

I’m now genuinely worried if this is normal or if this m doing something wrong. Maybe I might not have ADHD…. Maybe I might be an alcoholic (but that seems less like it since this year I went from 4months without drinking just to test if I can quit when I want and it wasn’t hard for me to do so)

But the medication seems to work if it’s incorporated with alcohol. Has anyone else had this issue? What do you think is going on? Am I missing something? Please help. I really want to take care of myself and get to know and understand my mental health state.

I’m soo dumb bro😭🤦‍♂️

So my crush finally invited me over tonight to hang out and watch some movies. We had talked about planet earth documentary by David Attenborough at work and she told me that she never watched it and I was so shocked and told her that she gotta watch and she said how about we watch it together tonight and I was like absolutely!!!

The night came I’m in her room. I was so locked in with the documentary and try to man explain to her what’s going on and my love for the show, whilst doing so all of a sudden she got in my face and I instantly pushed her back because I don’t like people in my personal space ( I’m autistic fyi) she looked so shocked when I did that and I didn’t think much off it kept on talking about the documentary 😭

After a few minutes she just walked out of the bedroom and went in the living room for a while and came back. Her whole mode was totally different and she asked me to leave…

I told my buddies and they told me that she was trying to kiss me and I blew it 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I’m new in the dating scene, I only have been with one girl who I dated for 5yrs since high school (I’m 21yrs btw) I’m so pissed at myself….

Dating and catching up on clues is soo hard… why can’t you just ask or tell me straightforward that you want to kiss 😭😭😭

Now I have to see her tomorrow at work and I genuinely don’t know what to do…

I wish the world would just swallow me …

Took aderrall for the first time and it doesn’t seem to be working…

I got diagnosed a few months ago go and me and my doctor have been trying to find what meds works for me. He started me on strattera non stimulant for a month and it didn’t help at all.

Today We decided to do stimulant and he prescribed me D-amphetamine ER 15mg salt combo CP (that’s what’s written on the meds)

To took today for the first as directed and I haven’t noticed a big off a difference. I’m a bit more calmer, I’m able to focus on one thing and think of one thing at a time which is definitely an improvement but it’s not quite effective.

The first few hours it was like it’s kicking in and out, I’d focus for about 30mins and then slowly side track but the difference though is that Id eventually notice when I side track, after a a few minutes and get back to focusing.

That lasted for about 3-4hrs and after that everything went back to the usual mess but the calmness did stay though. I didn’t have the omg moment like or notice a bigger difference like my doctor said I would.

Is this normal? I know I just started taking today so I’m thinking maybe it takes a few days to get the full effect maybe?

Has anyone had the same experience with this specific medication if so would you mind sharing your experience/thoughts?

I know nothing about adhd meds since I just got diagnosed so bear with me if I’m being dramatic or unreasonable. I’ve searched in this subreddit to see if there’s any previous posts about the same meds and same experience but I couldn’t find any so I thought I’d ask.

Thanks… please be nice 😭
