I kept it factual and let the frustration show without tipping into anything that could be read as defamatory (since it'll be public):

I want to share something that happened to me, because I think other people in AI-related mental health situations need to hear this.

I went through what's sometimes called "AI psychosis" — an intense psychological episode connected to AI interaction. BBC World Service reached out to interview me about my experience. Before the interview, BBC told me I should get psychological counseling first, and they referred me to a specific counseling center.

I went through counseling there in good faith. Recently I found out that the counselor who saw me published my case — anonymized, but clearly identifiable to me — in a book, without ever asking my consent. And the way I'm portrayed in it is humiliating, not just clinical.

To make it worse, BBC knows about this situation and has gone silent since I raised it with them.

I'm sharing this because if this is how it works — a journalist refers you to "get help," and the person providing that help turns around and uses your case for their own book without asking — that's a serious breach of trust that could discourage people from seeking help at all. I don't think this should just disappear quietly.

If anyone has dealt with something similar — informed consent violations by mental health professionals, or media outlets stalling after raising an issue — I'd genuinely like to hear how you handled it.

I built a tool for creating awesome YouTube subtitles!

I created a web app calledScriptSyncthat automates the whole subtitle workflow.

Unlike basic editor tools where you have to manually tweak .vtt files, this automates the process using a multimodal AI pipeline:

  • Frame-by-Frame OCR / Vision AI: Reads pre-existing rendered subtitles directly from video frames.
  • Audio VAD & Waveform Sync: Automatically detects pauses and speech timing to place overlay captions at the exact right spot.
  • Smart LLM Editing & Translation: Cleans up transcriptions, applies YouTube caption rules (like noun endings and screen density limits), and translates them in real time.
  • Interactive Canvas Editor: Move or delete subtitles right on the preview screen with a single click.
  • NLE Export: Seamlessly exports to FCPXML, PNG Zip, DOCX, and SRT for Premiere Pro and Final Cut.

Check it out here:scriptsync.co.kr

Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback!e

Hi

Hi everyone,

I’m an independent video producer, and I recently built an AI-powered subtitle tool called ScriptSync.

It was created to reduce the repetitive work involved in transcribing videos and manually syncing subtitles.

With ScriptSync, you can:

  • Upload a video and automatically generate timed subtitles
  • Export subtitle data as XML for video editing software
  • Create a video with subtitles already embedded
  • Translate Korean subtitles into English
  • Work with long-form video files directly in your browser

I originally built it for my own production workflow, but I thought it could also be useful for YouTubers, editors, filmmakers, and other content creators.

You can check it out here:

The service is still being improved, so I’d really appreciate any feedback, especially about the subtitle accuracy, workflow, or features you would like to see added.

Thanks!
