Fuck this guy

I’m 17 years old, turning 18 in about a month, and I live in Georgia. I honestly need some advice because I have a lot of resentment toward my uncle.

My uncle is 39 and has a 31-year-old husband. They took me and my brother out of the foster system in 2020 along with my grandparents, but my grandparents did most of the work to make that happen. Since then, it feels like we’ve constantly been criticized and treated like we’re a burden.

Before moving in with them, me and my younger brother lived in a pretty rough situation. A man was raising six kids in a three-bedroom house. The food was often nearly inedible, and if you didn’t eat it, you weren’t allowed to sleep, sit down, or even use the bathroom. We weren’t allowed to shower or brush our teeth before school, either.

When we moved in with my uncle, things didn’t get much better. Within the first month, he served us food that he already knew we couldn’t stomach. When we couldn’t eat it, he made us stand for hours, threw away our Christmas gifts, and even threw a plate at us. This wasn’t a one-time thing. It’s happened multiple times over the years because me and my brother have trouble eating certain foods.

In February, he threw away a lot of our belongings because I didn’t finish all of my dinner. Some of those items belonged to my grandfather on my dad’s side of the family and were some of the only things I had left from him.

After I tried to kill myself, I was put on medication that had a major effect on me emotionally. When I got out of the psych ward, I went back to school and was already struggling. One day, I came home and my uncle was waiting for me because the school had called about my attendance. I told him I would work on it, but he kept pushing until I finally snapped and yelled back.

That’s when he grabbed me by the throat and screamed in my face. He told me I’d never make anything of myself, that I was useless, and that he regretted ever getting me and my brother out of the system.

On top of that, my 65-year-old grandmother has worked for his company for the last eight years and hasn’t been paid. The only time she gets a break is when she’s recovering from surgery, and even then she’s expected to go right back to work as soon as she’s home. I’ve never even heard him thank her.

He also complains whenever my grandmother gives me and my brother attention, claiming she’s done more for us than she ever did for him. Everyone in the family knows that’s not true. He’s extremely dependent on his mother’s attention, and it’s caused problems in multiple relationships throughout his life.

There’s a lot more I could say, but this post is already long enough. Am I wrong for feeling this much anger and resentment toward him after everything that’s happened?

People are trying to jump me what should I do

For a bit of backstory: I was suspended. I don’t believe in fighting or violence, but I got into a fight with another student because he stole from my brother and punched him hard enough that his earring went through his ear. Even though I’ve always tried to avoid fighting, seeing that made me so angry that I fought him.

Now here’s what I need help with: the student and around five of his friends are trying to jump me and my brother. I’ve seen him and some of his friends watching me, trying to see if I’d go into a bathroom alone. My brother is friends with some people connected to them, and they warned him to watch his back because they’re planning to jump us. Some of my own friends have also heard them talking about it.

I understand there are consequences to my actions, but I don’t regret standing up for my brother. I am scared, though. I reported it to the school, which some people might call a “bitch move,” but when it’s five people threatening you, I honestly don’t care what they think anymore.

I get out of school on May 22, and I’m trying to avoid things getting worse. How do I avoid this situation, and what should I do if they actually try something?

HOW NOT TO GET JUMPED
