GPU pulsing and pc turning off whenever I am trying to play a video/randomly

Hello everyone,

I need your help! I don't have much knowledge about PCs (maybe just a little), as this is the first time I've owned one. Recently, my GPU has been crashing my games frequently.

At first, it happened with *State of Decay 2*. Whenever I tried to launch it from Steam, my PC would completely shut down. I wondered if the GPU needed to "warm up" first, so I launched *The Witcher 3*, closed it, and then opened *State of Decay 2* again. Surprisingly, that method worked and the PC didn't crash anymore.

However, while installing the game and watching a friend's stream on Discord, the PC crashed several times. It also crashed yesterday when I tried to stream my *Valorant* clips to a friend on Discord, and again when I simply tried to open local video files. For the past couple of days, it has even turned off randomly while I was just browsing Pinterest lol. The same thing happened today.

I spoke with Gemini, and it told me that my thermal paste needs to be replaced because my GPU is hitting 89°C just from browsing the web. I turned on fan tuning, but now the fans have gotten incredibly loud and keep pulsing. I'm just really interested to know what exactly is causing both this pulsing noise and the constant system crashes.

**My specs are:**

* **CPU:** Intel Core i5-4590S @ 3.00GHz * **RAM:** 16.0 GB DDR3 * **GPU:** AMD Radeon R9 290X Series (4 GB) * **Storage:** 1021 GB (781 GB used) * **Motherboard:** MS-7817
