Car totaled last year, hit my head on steering wheel (airbags failed). Didn't go to the ER then, but now I have severe eye pressure issues. Need advice..

I really need some legal and insurance advice regarding a bad car accident I was in last year on June 12.The crash completely totaled my car. The airbags never went off, so my head slammed right into the steering wheel.

Because I didn’t have any bleeding, cuts, or broken bones at the scene, I thought I was totally fine and skipped a medical checkup.

Fast forward to recently: I went to Specsavers for a routine eye exam, and they found serious eye pressure issues/glaucoma. I am now seeing a specialist for it. To make things more stressful, I just got hired at a manufacturing job, and I'm really worried about how this might impact my employment and finances if I need treatments or time off.

Since the crash happened almost a year ago and I didn't see a doctor right away, I have a few questions:

How hard is it going to be to prove to insurance that hitting my head on the steering wheel caused or accelerated these eye pressure issues?

Can I take legal action against the car manufacturer because the airbags failed to deploy in a crash severe enough to total the vehicle?

Since I am approaching the 1-year mark of the accident, what should my immediate next steps be to protect myself legally before any deadlines pass?

Is there anything I need to do to protect my new manufacturing job if my eye treatments temporarily interfere with my work?

Any insights from people who have dealt with delayed injuries, airbag failures, or Ontario insurance would be amazing. Thanks.
