I picked up a 2008 Dahon Metro (6-speed, 20-inch wheels) a few months ago and would like to upgrade its gearing to 10-speed, if feasible.
A few questions for those familiar with Dahon upgrades:
Is a 10-speed conversion possible while keeping the original frame, and what parts would need replacing?
Would I need a new rear wheel/hub with an HG freehub, cassette, derailleur, shifter, chain or crankset?
Can I replace the existing handlepost with a newer folding design that allows the handlebar to fold down or sideways for a more compact folded bike?
Are there any compatible parts or upgrade kits you’d recommend, and would the conversion be worth the cost?
I’d appreciate advice from anyone who’s done a similar upgrade.
