As a 44 year old dad of two who owns both New Balance 574s and 237s I take absolute exception to this comment. How dare we be called ‘boomer stepdads’. We are middle aged men who enjoy comfort.

I know I shouldn’t be this pedantic but I’m watching a fan video thing of the England game on YouTube and in the crowd before the game I spotted someone wearing this Beckham shirt.
David Beckham never wore that kit and certainly never wore it in a game that warranted squad numbers and names. He made his debut for England wearing the home version of that euro 96 kit away at Moldova under Glen Hoddle but they didn’t have names on their shirts back then.
I’m probably putting too much thought into this.
