What would you pick?

Been a nurse for 8 years (RN). Trying to pick the right direction for my career. Would you pick a remote 9-5 Monday to Friday temp FT (12 month, mat leave coverage) role or Perm PT hospital in a brand new specialty, 10 minute commute?

(Always wanted to try this hospital specialty and would like to get my foot in the door at a hospital as they have more departments and opportunities for growth if I ever once and for all choose to step away from bedside). I know hospitals are having an awkward time right now but I’m hopeful things will pick back up. For the remote I don’t think they have as many opportunities.

Southwest ON

Anyone hired at LHSC or any other hospital in SouthWest Ontario recently? What unit and was it FT? Are you RN or RPN? What was the hiring process like and how long did it take?

Permanent jobs gone?

Where are the FT PERM jobs? Everything I see is contract (maternity coverage, 12 months or less ) or temporary. Where are the permanent FT Jobs?

I really would like some permanence as I do not want to be on the job hunt again in 12 months (or less than 12 months actually if I’d have to start job hunting again before a contract is up)

Marriage Name Change

Hello,

I got married recently and wondering if it would be better to:

A) assume my spouse’s last name as a second last name (with no hyphen) . Could I do it with no hyphen and I just tell Service Ontario this is the way I want it?

Or

B) legally change my last name to their last name and use my maiden name as a second middle name

For eg. My name is Marie Paula Morgan and their last name is Allen

I m want it to look like “Marie Paula Morgan Allen” instead of “Marie Paula Allen”.

Just looking for insight in how to go about doing this in Ontario. TIA.

Also what other documents would I need to change if assumed?

Job hopper

Anyone here been a job hopper throughout their career? What made/makes you leave a job? How long do you usually stay ? What makes you consider it “job hopping”?

I’ve hopped because my management and/or companies were extremely exploitative and toxic and really put my license on the line or experienced other external factors outside of my control where I had to leave when I did.

Part time schedule

What’s the biweekly part time requirement at your hospital? Trying to see if I’m able to balance it with a full time job.

Last I heard some are 45 hours/biweekly but does that include weekends or just any two shifts per week you can do?

Also, does your hospital do self scheduling or take your availability? Over what period?

What would you pick?

Job A: temp part time at a new start up with no guarantee for renewal, no benefits , 45 minute commute to and fro, min to fri days only
Job B: perm full time, with benefits, 6k less annual with on call 2x/ month, day and night shift, 4x10 rotation , remote

OLSG Form

Does anyone know where I can find the “Verification of Change in Employment” form on OSAP website? They listed it as the form to use if I change/update jobs during my service period agreement but can’t find it. I can only find the original “Verification of Employment” form.

Also does anyone know what kind of questions they ask at the end of your service agreement? Do they ask for proof of your job?
