Was sind eure Gedanken dazu?

Lassen Sie es mit goldenen Highlights herauswachsen.

Hallo zusammen,

Was ich bereits versucht habe:

• Wella Color Fresh Mask – ca. 1 Woche
• Syoss Color Glaze „Cool Medium Brown“ – hielt genau zwei Haarwäschen und hat außerdem mein Kissen verfärbt
• Matrix Brass Off / Blaushampoo – kaum sichtbare Wirkung auf meinem dunklen Haar

Letting it grow out with golden highlights. how can I bridge the gap?

Hello everyone,

I’d like to go back to my natural hair colour (dark, cool ash brown) so I’m letting it grow out. My roots are exactly as I want them. The problem is the lengths.

Background: I bleached my hair in 2023 and have been using L’Oréal Excellence 4.11 ever since, most recently in October 2025. The cool pigments have washed out, leaving a distinct golden/orange tint. In the spring, I re-coloured just the lengths with 4.11 again – it lasted about 2–3 weeks, then the golden tinge returned.

What I’ve already tried:

• Salon tint (CHF 180) – lasted 8 weeks

• Wella Color Fresh Mask – approx. 1 week
• Syoss Color Glaze “Cool Medium Brown” – lasted exactly 2 washes, and also stained my pillow
• Matrix Brass Off / blue shampoo – barely noticeable effect on my dark hair

Is there anything else between “permanent colour every 4 weeks” and “just putting up with the brassy tones”? Has anyone been through a similar transition and have a trick I’m overlooking?

I’m a winter type, so the warm tone bothers me every day. But I want to let my hair grow out, so I want to use as few chemicals as possible.

Thanks for any advice!

Hydrogen-dominant SIBO, tried almost everything, now painful bloating for the first time — is this die-off? Does Atrantil even make sense for H2? (long timeline inside)

27F, years of 24/7 distension. Confirmed **hydrogen-dominant SIBO** (methane/IMO excluded). Rifaximin, low-FODMAP, low-histamine, herbal antimicrobials, even a week of fasting — nothing has fixed the bloating, and now for the first time it's actually **painful**, especially in the evenings. I just started Atrantil + NAC this week. My specialist appointment isn't until end of September. Four questions at the bottom: (1) could the new pain be die-off? (2) does Atrantil make sense for H2 at all? (3) why would a nutritionist recommend it for hydrogen-dominant? (4) how do I get through until September?

About me
27F, Europe. Normal BMI (~24), not overweight — this is genuinely distension, not fat. My stomach has been distended basically 24/7 for **years**: bloated from the moment I wake up, worse over the day, tight enough that every waistband/bra digs in. The *only* time it has ever gone flat was during a week of fasting.

Key observations
- Flat **only** when my gut is completely empty (fasting + a bowel clean-out). A single normal bowel movement does **not** flatten it.
- I alternate between **constipation and diarrhea**, and often feel like I **can go but don't fully empty**.
- **Psyllium husk made me more constipated** a couple of years ago.
- My **gas smells like (rotten) eggs** — only recently realized this might be a clue.
- Drinking fluids doesn't distend me; only solid food does.

Full timeline (2026)
- Ongoing since mid-May: eating sugar-free, wheat-free and low-histamine.
- 5 May – Lactulose H2/CH4 breath test:H2 rose to 34 ppm → positive for SIBO. Methane stayed <8 ppm → IMO ruled out. So I'm clearly hydrogen-dominant.
- **8 May – Lactose breath test:**negative.
- **13 May – Fructose breath test:**negative.
- **Endoscopy + biopsies:**normal duodenal villi (no celiac/sprue, no Whipple's, no giardia), only mild chronic inactive gastritis, no H. pylor. Bloods, thyroid, liver/pancreas/kidney all normal; ferritin low-normal. DAO 7.1 (borderline). IgE = birch-pollen cross-reactivity, nothing that explains 24/7 bloating.
- 16–30 May – Rifaximin 3×550 mg (14 days):improved my brain fog, headaches and hunger/energy — but zero effect on the distension
- **Low-FODMAP and low-histamine diets (2 weeks each):**no effect on distension.
- **2–mid-June (2 weeks):**herbal antimicrobials — oregano oil, AllicinMax, garlic (A.Vogel), uva-ursi, berberine, Omni-Biotic 10 (probiotic) + Sibosan. No effect on the distension— BUT interestingly my stool was normally formed (Bristol 4) during that time, which it isn't now.
- **mid-June – early July (~5 weeks):**took a break, only L-glutamine. Distension continued unchanged.
- **early July (~1 week):**medically-supervised Buchinger fast, started with a Glauber's salt clean-out. Belly went flat for the first time in years (even with tea/broth/juice).
- **After breaking the fast:**belly came straight back once I ate normal amounts — and now, for the first time, it's painful
- **This week:**started Atrantil + NAC (nutritionist's recommendation). L-glutamine ongoing.
- **Also offered but not started:**low-dose amitriptyline (25 mg) for visceral hypersensitivity.

Where I'm at now

The distension itself is nothing new — it's been there for years. What is new is the pain: my belly gets enormously bloated and genuinely hurts, mostly in the evenings after eating, central/lower abdomen. I've also had a couple of episodes of dizziness and a lot of fatigue this week. My specialist (SIBO/motility) appointment isn't until the end of September and I'm struggling to cope until then.

My questions

  1. **Could the new pain be a die-off / Herx reaction?**I only started Atrantil + NAC a few days ago, and the painful bloating ramped up around the same time. Is 3–4 days in realistic for die-off, or is that too soon / probably something else?

  2. **Does Atrantil actually make sense for hydrogen-dominant SIBO?**Everything I read says its evidence is mainly for methane/IMO — which I specifically *don't* have (methane was excluded). Has anyone with hydrogen-dominant SIBO actually had Atrantil help?

  3. **Why would a nutritionist recommend Atrantil for an H2 case like mine?**Genuinely trying to understand the reasoning — is there a rationale for using it in hydrogen-dominant SIBO that I'm missing?

  4. **Did anyone else feel much better *during* a fast, and then get worse a few days after breaking it?**During my fasting week my belly was flat and I honestly felt great — but about 4 days after breaking the fast things got worse (including the new pain). Has anyone experienced this exact pattern, and did it eventually settle back down?

  5. Any ideas how to get through until the end of September? Anything that helped you cope while waiting for a specialist — pain/bloating relief that actually worked, questions to push for, mindset stuff. I'm pretty worn down and the wait feels endless.

Thanks so much for reading all of this. Any experience — especially from anyone hydrogen-dominant who's been down this road — would mean a lot. 🙏

low-dose antidepressants for the brain-gut axi

Has anyone tried low-dose antidepressants or gut-brain axis medication for SIBO bloating?

My gastroenterologist just suggested trying pharmacological treatment of the brain-gut axis as a next step. This came after I completed a 14-day course of Rifaximin 550mg 3x daily with no improvement in my bloating at all — my stomach still looks pregnant even weeks after finishing the course.

He mentioned it at my appointment today but I’d love to hear from others who have been down this road before I decide.

Has anyone been prescribed low-dose antidepressants (like Amitriptylin or similar) specifically for gut/SIBO bloating?

Would really appreciate hearing any experiences — positive or negative. Thanks 🙏

Is this normal bloating after completing 14 days of Rifaximin?

Hi everyone,

I just finished my 14-day course of Rifaximin 550mg 3x daily two days ago for hydrogen-dominant SIBO (peak H₂ values of 34.4 ppm and 27.6 ppm).

This is what my stomach looks like in the evening after a light meal of salad, egg, radishes, zucchini, skyr and cherries. No trigger foods except a small amount of aged cheese.

My bloating hasn’t improved at all during or after Rifaximin. Is this level of bloating normal two days after finishing the course? Has anyone experienced this and when did it finally improve?

Thanks 🙏

Update: 14 days Rifaximin completed — still bloated. Normal?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an update after my previous post. I’ve now completed my full 14-day course of Rifaximin 550mg 3x daily.

My SIBO test showed hydrogen-dominant SIBO with peak H₂ values of 34.4 ppm and 27.6 ppm, and methane was negative (<8 ppm). On top of that I was also diagnosed with histamine intolerance (DAO 7.1 U/ml, reference >10), a wheat sensitivity (IgE 0.47 kU/l, Class 1) and a hazelnut allergy due to pollen cross-reaction.

Some things have genuinely improved. Brain fog and headaches have almost completely disappeared since starting the diet — I only had them once in the past few weeks which is a huge change. I can also now go 6-7 hours between meals without getting hungry, which was completely impossible before. My bowel movements have also improved and are more regular since finishing Rifaximin.

However my bloating hasn’t changed at all. My stomach is still very distended and uncomfortable even after completing the full course.

Since finishing Rifaximin I’ve immediately started probiotics and L-Glutamin 750mg daily on an empty stomach for gut wall repair, plus ginger capsules for MMC support. My nutritionist recommended Omni-Biotic 10, but I also have Sibosan on hand which contains Bacillus strains and was specifically recommended in my SIBO diagnostic report. I’m wondering whether I should take both together or just stick with one — has anyone had experience combining these two probiotics after Rifaximin?

My nutritionist has also moved me away from strict Low-FODMAP and is now focusing on a low-histamine diet instead, since my lactose and fructose tests both came back negative. In about a week I plan to add herbal antimicrobials including oregano oil, berberine, allicin and bearberry extract as a maintenance protocol to prevent relapse.

Is it normal to still have significant bloating after a full 14-day Rifaximin course with values like mine? How long did it take for your bloating to improve after finishing? Has anyone had success with herbal antimicrobials as maintenance after Rifaximin, and did anyone need a second round with similar H₂ values?

Thanks in advance 🙏

8 days of Rifaximin, 10 days FODMAP. bloating still the same. Normal?

Hi everyone,

I was recently diagnosed with SIBO (hydrogen-dominant) after a lactulose breath test. My peak H₂ values were 34.4 ppm and 27.6 ppm, so a pretty significant overgrowth.

My current protocol:

•	Rifaximin 550mg 3x daily (day 8 of 14)
•	Low-FODMAP diet for 10 days
•	Sugar-free
•	Ginger capsules on empty stomach for MMC support (2x day)

The good news: Since starting FODMAP, I’ve only had brain fog and headaches once — which is a huge improvement compared to before.

However my bloating hasn’t changed at all. My stomach is still very distended and uncomfortable, even after 8 days of Rifaximin and 10 days of FODMAP. Is it normal to still have significant bloating at day 8 of Rifaximin? When did you first notice improvement in your bloating — during or after the antibiotic course?

Background: I had two surgeries in 2020 and 2022, both with antibiotics and strong painkillers afterwards. I suspect this is what triggered my SIBO.

After finishing Rifaximin, I’m planning to continue with herbal antimicrobials (oregano oil, berberine, allicin) as a maintenance protocol to prevent relapse, combined with probiotics (Bacillus strains + S. boulardii). Has anyone had success with herbal antimicrobials after Rifaximin?

Did anyone need a longer course or combination therapy for hydrogen-dominant SIBO with high values?

Thanks in advance 🙏🙂

experience psyllium husks

My gastroenterologist recommended psyllium husks for my constipation on Wednesday. I’m still waiting for the SIBO test results (or at least I haven’t received them yet), but I did receive a prescription for rifaximin by email today. Does anyone have any experience with psyllium husks for SIBO?
