Minutes To Midnight Songs Ranked
Hello again. So if you guys remember, I last ranked all the songs of Meteora, and so today is Minutes To Midnight. Know that this is my opinion so let me know on what you think.
Wake (N/A): This is another one of their preludes, nothing much to say. Though it does not sound half bad.
In Between (5/10): I know a lot of people have ranked In Between at the bottom and I am one of them too. This is just a really bland and boring song, and it almost even feels soulless. Mike’s performance here is surprisingly not so great. It’s just only him singing normally and not the usual rap, but to be honest it does not work on this song.
Valentine’s Day (7/10): I know I’m gonna anger a lot of people for this but I’m not sorry. This song isn’t actually a bad one. It just pales in comparison to the other amazing ballads that they’ve made and the ballads that are already in this album. Still Chester’s performance here is good, not the best but certainly not the worst.
9/8. No More Sorrow / Hands Held High (8.5/10): This was difficult to choose between these songs but ultimately i decided to put these songs together. So first, No More Sorrow. This is a good song, and I love the aggressiveness is here, but what I do not like is that long intro. This song is at least almost 4 minutes, but that intro is so long that the actual song itself is barely even 3 minutes. They have made long intros for other songs like Guilty All The Same for example, but that song is nearly 6 minutes. Regardless, it’s still a good song. Secondly, Hands Held High. Now personally this is a nice song and I would’ve given it a higher rating but the only problem is I’m not a very big fan of Religions being in a song, but at least the meaning behind this song is deep enough to make me like it. Unlike In Between, Mike singing here fits the song. Both songs are good in their own way.
- Leave Out All The Rest (9.5/10): Everything from this point is a massive step up from the previous songs. This is one of the ballads from this album that I was talking about would put Valentine’s Day pale to comparison. This is a really great and beautiful song and I loved it when they used it in Twilight cause that was the first time I heard this song. Everything here from the video, to melody and Chester’s performance is brilliant.
Now this is where it gets hard to rank these songs…
What I’ve Done (10/10): It was difficult to pick between this and In Pieces cause depending on my mood they can interchangeable. But regardless this suits me better. This is one of the LP songs I’ve ever heard as I first heard it from Transformers 1 at the end. I immediately recognized this song once I decided to listen to it. This is easily one of their best songs of all time, from how iconic it is to the chorus and that iconic intro. This is truly a special song to me.
In Pieces (10/10): This is in my opinion is basically a faster paced Shadow Of The Day, and man does this work brilliantly. This is easily one of my favorite Chester performances of all time. He does a brilliant job at showing the emotion in his singing throughout the song, and when that guitar solo rolls in… the rest speaks for itself. Amazing song.
Given Up (10/10): GREAT OPENER. This has got to be one of the best ways I’ve ever seen a way to open an album. This is easily my favorite Chester performance of all time. The bass, the guitar and Chester’s thrashing vocals and screams is just outstanding. And when the iconic screaming bridge and the 17-second scream comes… just amazing. I’ve always tried to sing this song but I always chicken out when the bridge comes. What a song and what an opener.
Bleed It Out (10/10): The only song where Mike raps in this album. And man does he knock it out off the park. This is one of the those types of songs where the vibe of it matters more than the actual song itself. Brilliant rapping, great chorus, great bridge, everything is great in this song and is one of their best songs of all time in my opinion.
Shadow Of The Day (10.5/10): This is in my opinion one of their best and greatest ballads of all time. Just truly beautiful, immaculate and very deep. The video’s great, the singing is just out of this world, but what mainly carries this song is the way it builds up. Starts off empty and slow, ends with an amazing guitar solo and drums. I’ve always used this song as my go-to motivation song or the song that calms me down whenever I feel low. Chester did an amazing job at this song, but there is still one more song that reigns superior from this album…
And for the #1 it is…
- The Little Things Give You Away (1000/10): This is my #3 song from them of all time and for good reason. This is easily their greatest, most beautiful, and most poignant ballad of all time in my opinion and you can’t tell me otherwise. Based on the events of Hurricane Katrina, this song carries a very deep meaning as its lyrics are based on the events of it. This song also has a build up but it’s even stronger and deeper than Shadow Of The Day’s build up. It starts off like a lullaby with delicate vocals from Chester with a soft guitar riff in the background, builds and becomes stronger and ends beautifully with an insane riff. That second chorus is easily one of the best parts of a song they’ve ever done. This is easily their deepest and most beautiful song. What a way to end an amazing album.

Meteora Songs Ranked
So if you guys have remembered, I ranked all the songs from Hybrid Theory last time and I’m planning to rank all of the songs from all of their albums. And today is Meteora. Just know that this is my opinion so let me know on what do you think.
Foreword (N/A): This is just one of their preludes. Nothing special.
Session (N/A): Even though this is an interlude, I certainly do think that this one is one of their better ones. I find this one pretty interesting and I still remember when it was used in Matrix: Reloaded in the credits.
Hit The Floor (6.5/10): This song in my opinion had a good amount of potential but in the end it ended up sounding really lackluster and meh. The only reason gets a rating above a 5 is because of Mike’s amazing rapping in this song. Chester’s performance I found however was just straight up cheesy and cringe, especially that horrid chorus. But the melody of the song is decent whatsoever.
Nobody’s Listening (8.8/10): Even though this is ranked almost at the very bottom, I still do think that this is a nice song. I really Mike’s and Chester’s performance and that flute is really interesting. A nice contrast to their aggressive usual nu metal songs. I do wish that this song was longer.
From The Inside (9/10): This is a really underrated song from Meteora, in fact so underrated I even forgot it existed. But this is a good song nonetheless. The chorus is great, the instruments are nice and is overall a really decent track.
Don’t Stay (9.4/10): Great opener in my opinion. Great performance by Chester, amazing drums and guitar. I don’t have much to say about this track. Just a great track and a great opener.
Easier To Run (10/10): I really really love this song. Everything is sensational about it but it’s only ranked low because the other songs are just better. But still one of their better slower paced tracks. Really great Chester performance here.
Breaking The Habit (10/10): Chester’s favorite track. And for a good reason. One of his best performances in here, really great chorus, brilliant singing and really well paced and fitting tempo and melody. Fits perfectly with Chester’s vocals on this track.
Figure.09 (10/10): What a brilliant track this is. Everything in this track is brilliant from Mike rapping, Chester’s chorus, the guitar, the drums. It’s all perfect and well fitting with everything else. And what I like is that it’s not such an overly aggressive track but has the perfect amount of anger.
Numb (10/10): The first Linkin Park song I’ve ever heard. This is indeed a special track to me as I remember when my dad used to play this. This is easily their most iconic track and for good reason. It’s amazing from the piano, that amazing iconic chorus and the verses. It’s all in place in this track.
Lying From You (10/10): Hot take but I think this track is better than Numb for a good reason. Almost no explanation needed. I love this track just as much as Numb but what I like about this track more is the way it’s paced. It’s fast, it’s aggressive, and it’s pure of angst. But that’s what makes it so good. The emotion in Chester’s vocals is what carries this track. Mike’s rapping is amazing as usual but I do think that Chester is the highlight of this track. And that guitar riff… eargasm every time.
Somewhere I Belong (10/10): This was very very hard to pick and even on some days I’d pick Lying From You over this but I’ve always thought this track was consistent at being brilliant. And in my opinion this will be one of my favorite tracks from them. Brilliant performance from both of them, great bridge and verses. But what makes me love this track so so much is the melody. Always managed to give me goosebumps and it fits so perfectly well with everything else.
And for the number one… It is
- Faint (1000/10): Yes I did indeed pick this track as the best from Meteora. And for a good reason. It just sounds dope as hell, superb rapping, insane chorus, perfect amount of aggression, and is in fact my second favorite track from them of all time behind A Place For My Head from Hybrid Theory. If this song was at least 3 minutes long this would be even more insane.

For me i personally always get an eargasm when Michael says “Girl you’re every wonder in this world to me. A treasure time won’t steal away.” in The Lady In My Life. It’s just so beautiful, perfect and always hits the spot. But what’s it for you?

Most underrated song?
In my opinion, High Voltage is clearly the winner. I’ve seen it being always at the bottom but I disagree. The melody is catchy, Mike’s rapping is incredible and that chorus is definitely one of their best. What do you think is their most underrated?

What’s your opinion on this song?
I personally think this is just an alright song. But the Mike verses in here are probably one of the best verses of his from them. The only thing that ruins this song is the chorus…. And I find it super garbage. If that chorus was better, this song would’ve been one of the best from Meteora. What’s your opinion on it? Btw please don’t butcher me for my opinion…
