I thought Helwett Packard support sucked but SONY support sucks more.

I recently decided to make upgrades for both my older laptop models i have, a Pavilion dv2500 and a VAIO VPCEJ28FX, and i have to remark the dv2500 is older than the VAIO.

guess what? By the HP support i got a response with the exact archive i needed for the BIOS update. With this VAIO i've been trying to get at least a clear answer for days but no one doesn't even point out what the latest BIOS version does the laptop support, and the oldest files available are from... 2018? does sony servers run on a 16GB usb pendrive? also the whole Sony site is a mess, i can't log-in to post my question, and i've spent a good time trying to figure out where are the things i'm looking for.

Linux Mint audio for production is hell.

So i've been using Mint for a while now, i got many of my stuff working i got through workarounds and replacement apps.

Everything was going fine but then i started with awful problems with Pulseaudio audio routing with Pulsemeeter, i got random audio crackling intermitently that lasted like a minute, audio files and sometimes computer audio had to kinda "load" for a few seconds before playing, things randomly connecting and connecting, discord deciding to just flicker on and off it's audio node for no apparent reason.

I ranted a bit on reddit and did my research, and considered changing my system to Pipewire, and after breaking my system by uninstalling Pulseaudio for some reason i switched to ALSA and Pipewire (it used ALSA and Pulseaudio).

The thing is, it's objectively worse, i have the same problems but with a more modern and lower latency subsystem. I don't really know what should i do at this point.

I reinstalled mint a few times because of this, i use audio routers but after some months my audio breaks. I think i will probably switch for an arch gaming distro, for a more modern system, better audio and gaming.

Does anyone have the BIOS F.2E (sp44734) for an Intel HP Pavilion dv2500 from 2007?

Basically that, i wanna update the bios just because, i don't really use this computer heavily and i wanted it to upgrade it a bit and have it for older software or experimenting.

I found this computer when i moved in to a room my cousin lived in and found it inside the wardrobe, she had a boyfriend in IT once so i'm wondering if it was ever modified or repaired. The computer state is pretty bad, keys don't work, overall is pretty banged up and showing signs of use.

Edit: after searching models i'm not sure if it's a dv2500 or a dv6000 as they look almost the same so i'm gonna throw the specs from when i found it.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5GHz

GPU: it says not detected, probably integrated.

RAM: 2GB

Storage: 120 GB Hard Disk

OS: Windows 7 64 bits

BIOS version: Phoenix F.13

Edit 2: I found the Laptop is a dv2500 after checking the BIOS.

Need a BIOS update for a VAIO VPCEJ28FX but it isn't available anywhere

So i have this laptop i got from my grandpa, he used it for office work since 2011, after he got his new Acer laptop this one has been laying around his room until he gave it to me, i changed the drive, upgraded RAM, CPU is still the same old i5, i use it for uni/work.

I wanted to upgrade the BIOS but i can't find the software for it. Apparently it was upgraded by the VAIO app which also doesn't have, i put a dual boot of Arch and Windows 10 and apparently the software is exclusive to windows 7 but still i can't find it regardless.

How do i use windows VSTs on linux?

I tried installing the nightly version wich apparently manages wine automatically but fails to open the VST windows anyways.

Installing all the stuff on a stable version seems to be a lot more complicated than i thought.

Now i can't boot into cinnamon... For me to install it again i need to fix the dependency of libcanberra-pulse and there is no installation candidate. (does this count as linux failure? I mean it is a failure but my failure)

I just wished linux audio was a bit easier really, i can't install pulsemeeter without having issues or eventually breaking my system.

Edit: i had to add Debian repositories to be able to install it.
