Carpet beetle help
About 2–2.5 weeks ago, I discovered carpet beetle larvae and shed larval skins inside the storage compartment under my bed. There was a wool duvet belonging to my landlord, along with some other belongings stored there. I had previously put these items into bags, but larvae had apparently started coming out of them.
As soon as I noticed this, I threw away all of the items and everything that was stored there. I vacuumed the entire area thoroughly and then treated it with an insecticide containing 2.5% deltamethrin. For the following week, I vacuumed five days out of seven and did not put any bed sheets on the bed for a while.
After that, I started using bed sheets again. I changed them twice a week and continued vacuuming thoroughly every two or three days.
About 2.5 weeks later, I opened the storage compartment under the bed again just to check it. I’m not completely sure, but I think I found another carpet beetle larva and possibly another shed larval skin. I treated the area with insecticide again and also applied a powder insecticide called Neopitroid to the areas I could reach.
Today, I found something between my mattress and the headboard. I’m not completely sure what it is, but I think it may also be related to carpet beetle larvae.
I have never seen an adult carpet beetle. So far, I have only found larvae and what appear to be shed larval skins.
At this point, I really don’t know what else I can do. I feel like I have done everything I possibly can, but I don’t understand why I am still finding signs of them after 2.5 weeks. Do you have any suggestions about what I should do next?
