I need some help because I’m freaking out. Found this in my son’s play mat in his room. It was completely flat so maybe it’s like a shed skin? I’ve literally never seen a bed bug in real life so I don’t know if this is one (praying it’s not but can’t think of how it could have come here) I looked at the corners of his crib and there’s nothing there. He had a bite near his eye yesterday, and today he has a new one by his ear. Can someone please help?
I believe this is a False Bombardier Beetle.
It is the first one I’ve encountered in my home. They generally pop up around cabins and lakefront properties. We’ve gotten a lot of rain. My crawl space has suffered moisture invasion. Perhaps that is serving as a breeding grounds?
Few quick questions.
Is anyone able to verify identification? How many more should I expect to find? Where should I look? What’s the best way to handle them? Are they a menace?
Last two photos are the same cicada 4 hours apart
found in southern california. enjoyed swimming, mostly upside down i believe. survived on land and looked wildly different once dry. fuzzy legs? did not want to be caught.
Emmy is my first praying mantis, and I’m curious to know if they’re too young to tell yet?? They’re a Chinese praying mantis if that helps!!
Hello I noticed this eggs on my bougainvillea, does anyone know from what bug? Should I remove it or leave it? Thank you for the help
Looked like a frog a tiny bit, had this tail that stood up between 45-75°. My fiance and I couldn’t tell how many legs it had but we thought it could possibly have four? But maybe more.
Found in our dishwasher - we’re not sure if it’s a baby house cockroach or an outdoor cockroach.. we live in New England so an outdoor roach is a possibility? It was very small (about the size of my pinky nail). We’ve killed it and sanitized our kitchen just in case.
I took a book off my bookshelf today, and put it down on my desk. I sat down and noticed something tiny moving, and worried its book lice. I’ve looked at the video I took so many times, and am not entirely sure. It seems like Psocoptera (book lice) have longer bodies, meanwhile this looks a bit wider and less long.
As a precaution, all the books from that shelf are now in ziploc bags but I’m looking for some clarity. What do you think it is??
I’m in southern Ontario, Canada.
Hello so recently I notice this eggs, should I remove them from my Bougainvillea?
Incroyablement minuscule ! J’espère que vous pourrez m’aider à trouver !
Can anyone help me identify what this is? It was in the river in Pittsburgh, and was clearly aquatic, cause as soon as I put it in the puddle nearby it stopped flopping around scared. But what is it?
Shot on Red Raptor using Laowa probe and macro lenses. We were able to shoot right into the fly's mouth at the tip of its proboscis. The lighting turned out too monochrome on this piece. We were going for a green cast because of The Fly (The Movie) but this is where we learned we need to use contrasting colors or just stay neutral and let the the insects colors express themselves without contamination. As is, I feel like it looks tinted green rather than lit green which is the risk you run with monochromatic lighting. Anyway, this is tough work. You are dealing in micro adjustments for focusing which is very hard on a conventional tripod. When we filmed the fly's mouth we were ecstatic. It took an entire day trying to land that properly framed and in focus.
weevil? crawling on my hair, in Illinois. easily smushed with napkin
Hi everyone who’s still active! I’m just posting here because 1- Google isn’t helpful to me and 2- this subreddit felt more considerate and real
I’m growing plants in the small gap between the screen and window, mainly because it has more sunlight than the bay window in the living room and there’s not enough sun nor space on that windowsill. My dad’s trying to grow string beans and cucumbers seedlings. Saw a tiny moth like insect and didn’t think much of it until now (1:30am a week later) this looks nothing like a moth to me. Google suggested some wasp or cicada from the North (we live in New Jersey), please I need to know if my family and/or my plants will be ok if I let it be or need to take it outside (somehow). Thank you so much in advanced!
