Austin gun owners — do you think permitless carry has made people less interested in learning Texas carry laws?

Something I’ve been curious about, especially in a city the size of Austin.

Texas allows eligible people to carry without an LTC, but knowing you’re legally allowed to carry and actually understanding where you can carry, prohibited locations, signage, use-of-force laws, and what happens during an interaction with law enforcement are two different things.

I run MyLTCTexas.com, so obviously I deal with LTC questions regularly. One thing I’ve noticed is that some people hear “permitless carry” and assume there’s really nothing else they need to learn.

For those of you in Austin who carry, do you think someone should still take an LTC course or some type of Texas carry-law training even if they have no intention of actually applying for the license?
Curious how Austin gun owners look at it.

Texas LTC instructor here — happy to answer questions about LTC vs. permitless carry

Hey y’all,
I’m César, and I run MyLTCTexas.com. I’ve noticed there’s still quite a bit of confusion about whether getting a Texas License to Carry is worth it now that Texas has permitless carry.
I’m not here to tell everybody they need an LTC, but there are still some legitimate benefits to having one, and I’m happy to answer questions about the process, eligibility, the online classroom portion, shooting qualification, signs, reciprocity, or LTC vs. permitless carry.
I also run an online Texas LTC course through MyLTCTexas.com for anyone who is looking to take the classroom portion online.
I’m a veteran and built the site specifically around making the Texas LTC process straightforward, including options in English and Spanish.
If anybody has Texas LTC questions, drop them below and I’ll answer what I can.

Texas Owned Businesses

Hey y’all, curious what Texas-owned businesses everyone here supports or recommends 🤠🇨🇱

Could be anything — BBQ spots, coffee shops, gun stores, clothing brands, local services, online businesses, etc. I’m trying to support more Texas businesses instead of always defaulting to the big companies.

I recently started my own business too, MyLTCTexas, where we help Texans get started with their License to Carry course online, so I’ve been in that “build local / support local” mindset lately.

Would love to hear what y’all recommend and maybe discover some hidden gems around Texas 👇
