What's the correct way to discuss pricing with guests?

in school they never taught us how to discuss pricing with clients. I currently work in a salon that doesn't talk about price until its time to take payment. I dont know if that's normal or not though. I want to find a way to talk about prices in a way that isnt so awkward and mysterious, but I also dont want clients to feel like I'm nickel and diming them by bringing up every little charge. I'm trying to find a happy medium when it comes to pricing transparency, and I need some guidance from more experienced stylists (this is my first salon job).

say a client booked online for a color. there is a base price + charges for extra bowls. your client already saw the rates when booking. when they arrive, your client also mentions that they want to add on a haircut.

when does the pricing conversation come up in situations like this?

  1. during the initial consult, do you go over the total price of everything, and then warn that it could go up if extra color is used?

  2. do you say nothing at all and assume the client understands that they'll be paying a higher ticket because they saw the pricing online and added on a service?

  3. do you only mention the additional charges as they come up? saying something like "adding a haircut to your service today would be an extra $45" or "im going to grab another bowl, that's $10 extra"

  4. when you go to take payment do you read the charges out loud before saying the total? "So today you received all over color, 3 extra bowls, and a haircut, so your total today is $X"

I'm also wondering kind of the same thing when it comes to upselling services.

do you just say "would you like to add on a deep conditioning treatment today?"

or do you say "would you like to add on a deep condition for $15 today?"

experience using Belliata / Zolmi for your salon?

I'm looking to switch to a new salon solution for booking, inventory, client notes, taking payments, the usual stuff. I've never heard of Zolmi but I found it online and it looks promising, but I cant find anyone online talking about it? Not sure if I'm just not looking in the right places or what. I'm someone who religiously reads reviews before I buy something, so I want to see some user opinions before I make the switch. Wondering if anyone has used Zolmi / Belliata in their salon and how you liked it?

why is addiction so common for us?

why do so many schizophrenic people have addictive personalities? Ive always wondered this myself because sz runs in my family and we all have an addiction of some sort. do you think they are correlated? I've tried my whole life to find the root of my addictive tendencies but I'm still looking. at this point I'm starting to wonder if it's just hard wired into me because I have sza

I hate the term "high functioning"

I really hate when people group us into categories of high vs low functioning. I often get put in the "high functioning" category. but there's so many days where I'm anything but that. there are plenty of days where I'm "low functioning" , and even days where you could barely say I'm functional at all. but since I have more days than not where I am able to mask my symptoms, they call me "high functioning". and they expect me to be fine all the time. when my symtoms get ugly they dont know what to do with me.

I feel selfish complaining about stuff like this because I know so many people with sz suffer far more than I do. But I am still suffering. I hallucinate every day. I am paranoid all the time. I constantly struggle with hygiene and self esteem. I'm scared of my doctors. Its extremely difficult for me to maintain relationships. But I am "high functioning" because I have a job, so none of it matters. Even though I'm suffering at work, as long as I can turn a profit despite whats going on in my mind, I'm "high functioning".

Are there any booth rental salons in or around GR?

I am looking to switch from commission to booth renting. Are there any salons around here that offer that? If so, what is the typical weekly rate?
