Local senior wants to meet dogs for her birthday
This is exactly the kind of thing I'm going to do when I'm in my 90s, frankly. I wish I had a dog to bring by!
Thieves swiped entire semi-trailer from Maple Ridge, lost it on Fraser Highway in Langley
Because they didn't know how to hook it up properly, I'm guessing.
Semi and a car crashed on 16th Ave overnight, looks serious
It's seriously getting to the point where I'll avoid 16th Ave if there's literally any other route available. Too many big trucks, everyone's going too fast.
Are drivers in Willoughby blind?
I drive up and down 208th every day, and every time they've extended the separated bike lanes, they immediately put up one of those vertical black and yellow road hazard markers (had to look that up, apparently that's what they're called) on the end of each section.
And every time they put up a new one, a car whacks into it within 24 hours. I mean, they're literally designed to be the most visible thing on the road, and every single one must have been replaced two or three times already.
The newest one down near 83 Ave got flattened, some of the others have been spun around.
About six months ago, I was driving down south of 72 Ave and heard a loud bang behind me, and someone in a little white sedan had managed to run into the bike lane separator, get two wheels up on top of it. They missed the metal hazard marker but I think ran over a couple of the little plastic tubes before they slammed back down. Pretty sure they messed up their car pretty badly, they pulled off into the next cross street.
Seriously, what is wrong with people driving up there? If they'd driven like this before the road was widened, they'd have wound up in the ditches.
Firehall repairs came in under budget, so did bids for road repairs
The story suggests this is linked to the crappy housing market. All the contractors are competing harder for work, and since cities are always building something, they're getting more bids. I'm not in construction, anyone who is know how big of a deal this is around greater Vancouver? I'm really curious how long it might last.
SkyTrain to Langley, half-finished
Well, the big concrete guideway is half done, anyway. Which is a pretty big milestone. I was driving down by the Willowbrook mall the other day and was surprised to see the big gantry thing has made it over the hill at 64 and is coming straight for Willow Video! I mean, in a month or so it'll get there. :)

Hot mic moment at City council, complete with F-bomb
It's never boring in Langley, is it?

People taking the mayor to court over legal costs for his previous libel lawsuit.
Technically it's not a lawsuit! (But it's basically a lawsuit in terms of money and lawyers, etc.)
Sign a piece of new SkyTrain route
I have a bunch of commitments on Saturday that will keep me from doing this, but it honestly seems kind of neat. Like a time capsule.

Langley guy with land valued at $10,000 wants permission to build on it so it'll be worth something
Not sure what the value to the Township is of having a 3 acre property that no one can build a house on is, but what do I know?
Edit: on the plus side, what do you think property taxes are on this one? Like $50 a year?
Toy Traders hosted a fundraiser for LAPS and Big Brothers Big Sisters
I have no idea what this NeeDoh thingy is, but full credit to anyone who raises money for cats at LAPS and other local charities.
Mom looking for inexpensive wheelchair-ramp van for son
Anyone know of where they could find one of these? I've had relatives who needed them, and they are really not cheap to get modified, and there's basically no government money for this.

Classic slip-and-fall lawsuit against Langley Township might actually go to trial?
Not a lawyer, but surprised to see that one of these lawsuits has a trial scheduled. My impression was that they tend to get settled or dismissed before getting that far most of the time.
Goodbye, Vancouver Giants – they're leaving Langley for Surrey
So you can't put up bus stop ads about local elections, but you can run endless YouTube ads. Got it.
More people going south of the line now, but it's still waaaaaay down from pre-Trump era in Aldergrove
Would you want a big crypt on your property?
Because there's at least one family in Langley who would like one.
