Details about the Langley city code of conduct investigations are out

This is what your tax dollars are paying for if you live in the city:

"…allegations that Albrecht had laughed at Mack while she spoke, used what she called “reactionary” hand gestures and aggressive body language, allegedly defaming Mack by calling her “disrespectful” to City staff, and he made “off-hand remarks” that amounted to negative criticism.

“The only proven incident is occasional ‘eye rolling and muttering,’” wrote Mahil. “I find this is not sufficient to meet the test for personal harassment under the Respectful Workplace Policy.” While it may have been inappropriate, a reasonable person would not have been humiliated or intimidated, she noted.

Non-Vancouverite riding around Stanley Park – what else should I see?

I live out in Langley, and I'm kind of jealous of all the videos online of folks riding around Stanley Park. So this year I'm going to haul my road bike out there and make a few loops around the park.

After that, where do I go? Assuming I've got about three hours to ride and then I'll need to stop somewhere to eat, what else can I ride to in a shortish time span near the park?

Context: I have an elderly road bike, I am middle-aged, and not that fast. Please do not suggest I go straight up a 25% grade hill. I will die.

Family looking for driver who killed woman in hit and run

This is sad, particularly this:

“She checked herself into hospital and then didn’t get the help she needed and left, and then this happened,” Mccallum said.

“That’s how they could identify her body. She had a hospital bracelet on.”

Are there a lot of rabbits around this year?

Weird question, I know, but I'm out for a morning walk or bike ride lately, and I'm seeing a lot more rabbits than last year. Walnut Grove, Fort Langley, loads of little wild bunnies. Was this a good year for them for some reason? Mild winter, maybe?

Mounties impound six cars on Zero Avenue in Aldergrove for speeding

"According to police, the targeted enforcement effort was aimed at improving cyclist safety as warmer weather brings more riders onto local roads."

Good. Also, benefits everyone whose driveway exits onto Zero Ave, everyone who drives at a semi-normal speed there…

Session Zero Advice

One of my long-term ambitions is to run a M:tAw campaign. I've run M:tA years ago, plenty of V:tM and other systems, but no one in my current group has ever played M:tAw at all. So assuming I can get them interested in running the game, how would I prep them? The magic system is A LOT, of course, and there's loads of lore, and we're all middle-aged folks with jobs and families.

My first thought is that I ought to lay out a basic setting BEFORE character creation, like "You're all mages in Vancouver, the bad guys are the Seers of the Throne, and you already know each other."

Any other limits for players during character creation? Advice for easing them into the magic system if they don't have time to memorize how it works before we start playing? Thoughts on starter mysteries?
