Bisaya Boxers have carried Philippine boxing since 1923, producing 38 to 42 of the country's 46 world champions. Here are the top 5 greatest Bisaya (Visayan) fighters of all time:
• Manny Pacquiao - Manny Pacquiao is the only eight-division world champion in boxing history, holding 12 major world titles. He won world titles across four different decades, the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s, and took home the prestigious lineal championship in five different weight classes. The Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) named him the Fighter of the Decade for the 2000s, and he was officially inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2025. Plus, he even won a world title at 40 years old after beating Keith Thurman back in 2019 etc.
• Nonito Donaire - Nonito Donaire is a legendary four-division world champion known as the “Filipino Flash”, He's famous for capturing multiple belts from flyweight all the way up to featherweight and winning world championships across three decades, the 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s. • Ceferino Garcia - Ceferino Garcia was a legendary Filipino/Visayan boxer and the only fighter from the Philippines to ever win a world middleweight title. He finished his career with an amazing 120 victories. He's also famous for popularizing the sweeping “bolo punch” which he modeled after the motion of swinging a Filipino machete. For his incredible career, he was inducted into the Ring Magazine Hall of Fame in 1977 and the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 1989.
Matud pa ni Dr.Borrinaga ang Badlit aka Baybayin nag originated sa Visayas kaysa sa Tagalog region, Dr. Borrinaga states that there are more variations of the early scripts found in the Visayas than in Luzon, and that the Tagalog-variant of Baybayin, he believes, was influenced by the Visayan-variant (Surat Bisaya).

I wanted to create a 10 photo visual series showcasing what a modern Bisaya/Cebuano person would look like with traditional pre-colonial tattoos (Pintados).
These portraits highlight a reimagined Bisaya boy and Bisaya girl wearing authentic tribal facial ink.
The focus is on the unique structure of a Bisaya face adorned with historical geometric patterns from Visayan history. What do you think of these cultural edits?
Angayan ba sila tan-awun?
I wanted to explore how modern Filipino personalities and Visayan artists would look if they wore the traditional tattoos of our ancestors.
These edits feature pre-colonial Bisaya face tattoo patterns (also known as patik), heavily inspired by the historical illustrations from the Boxer Codex and records of the Pintados.
The facial tattoos worn by ancient Visayan warriors weren't just decorative, they symbolized immense bravery, victory in battle, and social standing. What do you think of this modern reimagining? Which version or artist looks best with the traditional ink?
Angayan ba sila tan-awun?
What are your thoughts on the recent memes and humor spreading on social media about “Tagalog eating pagpag?” Discrimination na ba to or humor?
Please be respectful, this is for educational purposes only.
• Karakoa - The karakoa was a pre-colonial, advanced warship used by the Visayans, especially the Cebuanos. They used it to transport goods and raid neighboring islands.
• Take note, the Kapampangans used the karakoa too.
• Balangay - The balangay was another advanced, pre-colonial Visayan warship used for long-distance travel. It was also used for carrying goods and raiding other islands, carrying Visayan warriors or the Pintados.
These advanced Visayan warships prove that our ancestors were already advanced back then.
Not all Filipinos had warships in the past. For example, the Tagalogs didn't have their own ships because they didn't have the capability to build them, or they hadn't been civilized by the Visayans yet at the time.
Before the Spanish arrived, Bisaya/Visayans wore light clothes made from natural fabrics like cotton, silk, and abaca to show their social rank. These outfits were usually really bright, and they paired them with tons of gold jewelry and body tattoos. Visayan women back then also used hair and nail extensions.
Unta ibalik ning pre-Colonial attire no ug ang pre-Colonial Bisaya tattoos.
The Tagalog versus Bisaya Beef is a clear example of Tagoglog people having an inferiority complex toward Visayans. It usually starts with the Tagalogs taking the first shot, and then the Bisayas just retaliate.
Tagalogs are known for toxic and uneducated behavior because of their habits and culture. They love twisting stories and making things up to attack the people they are jealous of.
Most Tagalogs like to brag about themselves too. That is also why Tagalogs experience discrimination some Filipinos even call them “squatters” “pagpag eaters” ”snatcher” or “basurero” because of their bad attitude. This is why other Filipinos dislike or avoid interacting with tagalogs, cuz they know the average tagalog acts arrogant.
this behavior is very common among Tagalogs and has become a habit. Most of the time, they do this to boost themselves up. Even if people are already laughing at them, they just keep going as long as they have fellow Tagalogs supporting them.
They think they are so handsome, and they say that when they visit the provinces, a lot of girls fall for them HAHAHAHAHA It sounds funny, but for them, it's just a part of their culture.
These Tagalog skwaa always make up stories that they created themselves, and then they pin the blame on other islands they hate just to get back at them for mocking them as squatters and barbarian behavior, which is actually true.
They're desperately dragging their own inferiority complex into these fabricated stories they want to spread HAHAHAHAHA.
I don't know if I'm the only one who noticed, but most Tagalogs have an inferiority complex. Even if you don't speak Tagalog in vlogs or casual conversations, these Tagalog people suddenly get mad because they claim you should speak Tagalog since you're in the Philippines hahaha what's wrong with these people? hahaha
That's why I agree that Mindanao and Visayas should separate from Luzon, because imagine being stuck with these Tagalogs in one country. I mean, it's like trying to “pakiki-sama” with uk-uk.
The reason why Tagalogs are being discriminated against by other Filipinos is because of their own attitude, it’s a reflection of their character. They are called “pagpag eaters,” “tangalog,” “squatter,” and “low IQ.” When you use the word “Tagalog” as an insult, they get so furious, but when they do it, they are even proud of it. They even want to promote it, pretending to be concerned when the truth is they just want to spread that hate so they can feel superior or on top just to comfort themselves.
What is wrong with these people? HAHAHAHA
That's why the term “imperial manila” was invented not because it is literally imperial, but because it is a term used as an insult or to insult the Tagalogs, especially the Tagalogs in Manila. The term “imperial manila” was created because of the arrogant, feeling entitled, and squatters behavior of the Tagalogs.
