What do you guys think shows higher skill expression, off meta builds or perfectly maximized one shot builds??

On one hand when you're good enough, you can play elden ring HOWEVER you want. Any weapon any build any challenge Non meta or even FULL meta. On the other hand being able to Maximize your damage takes alot of experimenting and timing which also shows skill. I personally never cared about damage as I started getting better at the game cause to me enjoying the bosses moveset via parrying, jumping, backstepping or any other way that can make the fight more engaging is fun to me. Some people on the other dont mind oneshotting bosses/ getting the fight over with as quick as possible. The only thing that I dont like about that kind of playstyle is that alot of the meta armor is hard to match with so its hard to make a good Armour set. Which is something obviously superficial but I just want to get your guy's perspective on this ✌️😋

How do you guys progress through the game? I've played long enough to where I can usually make it to the fire Giant by level 30 +3 on a normal run and I like to have themed builds. Example->> pure INT build that relies on being stationary, utilizing spirit summons and furled fingers. Knight build that mainly levels endurance and vigor etc etc. I like capping my levels at lvl 30 because it gives me a challenge to make it as far as possible and it also makes me find ways to minmax the best that I can without 1. Making them look unlike a character in that category and 2. Making the build ineffective. If you guys have any questions, feedback or criticism lmk.

Thank you

[NOT CO-OP] As I've been playing around 2023, there's been a steep decline in multi-player activity(mainly co-op). I've completed the game around 20 or so times and bored is my only difficult boss in this game. That's why I started to co-op. Helping people is pretty fun and that where I start to enjoy most of my time on elden ring. But it just feels like as of 2026 even finding sessions at meta level are hard; being in queue for 15-20 mins between each session. As opposed to when the dlc came, I could put a furled finger spot anywhere on a significant area and I would be summoned. I would do pvp/invading and consider myself above average but even that gets boring most of the time. If you guys feel the same way or have any suggestions, id love to hear them.

Thank you guys.
