Safe neighborhoods for women in their 20s

I have lived in DC for about four years. I spent one year on Capitol Hill and the remainder in Navy Yard, but I’m ready to move somewhere with a little more charm and character.

I’ve heard mixed things about literally everywhere (including where I currently live), so I don’t expect a perfect answer, but are there particular streets or pockets within neighborhoods that are generally deemed less safe that are actually completely fine?

I’m hoping to avoid living in another high-rise apartment and would prefer a row house, which I know is going to cost more. That’s also why I’m curious about safety and location, since I may need to broaden my search a bit.

Any recommendations or suggestions are welcome!

Edit: I guess my question is really- where will I likely feel unsafe/ have issues? Is there anywhere in U st, admo, Shaw, that is a no go? I am a female who likes to run so I just want to make sure I am not looking over my shoulder the entire time (my PR/PB did happen when I thought someone was following me but would prefer to avoid on a daily basis). Lastly I have a car that if I have to street park I would prefer not get my tires or something crazy stolen.

Suggestions on cross training shoes

I told myself I wouldn’t buy another pair of sneakers until I hit 35 Barry’s classes and knew I was in it for the long haul. Well… here we are, 35 classes later and not going anywhere.

I’m sure this has been asked and answered- but looking for cross training shoe recs.

For context: I have (very) low arches and wear New Balance Fresh Foam X 880v15s for running. I also rotate between the stock insoles and Currex arch support insoles and swap one out for the other whenever I develop arch pain from one. (If anyone has thoughts on that strategy, pls share, I am only 2 years into consistent running).

My biggest issue is that while the New Balance are great on the tread, they’re NOT ideal for the floor (I have stumbled on tread a few times but that’s prob a user error- watching someone fall off once has kinda solved this).

Anyways- I’m looking for a cross-training shoe that’s more stable for the floor without destroying my arches or shins during the tread portions of class.

ANY and ALL advice here is so greatly appreciated- including telling me to suck it up if this is silly.
