2000 Today (BBC1, 1999-2000)

There are various videos online covering different parts of the mammoth BBC1 millennium broadcast of 2000 Today from 9:15am on Friday 31 December 1999 (New Year's Eve) to 1:30pm on Saturday 1 January 2000 (New Year's Day). However, did anyone at the time actually record the entire 28 hours? Obviously it must've used a fair few VHS tapes, but surely someone did? If so, I'd love to see it digitised. Maybe not as one video as that would be ridiculous, but into several chunks would be good.

Rock Profile - Funny or Die (Series 3, 2009)

Rock Profile is a British television comedy show written by and starring comedy partnership Matt Lucas and David Walliams, both later widely known for the sketch show Little Britain. Rock Profile first appeared on the channel UK Play in 1999, directed by Michael Cumming, before moving to BBC Two in 2000.

The show comprises a series of spoof interviews, involving Jamie Theakston questioning Lucas and Walliams who play famous musicians. The interviews are often bizarre and involve broad, unflattering caricatures or fictional characteristics. They are often interspersed with videos by the featured artist, including humorous captions and congratulations from other impersonated celebrities.

A third series of six short episodes, each show in two parts, was uploaded to the Funny or Die website in 2009, with all episodes presented by Dermot O'Leary (except the last one which was presented by Miquita Oliver) and directed by Geoff Posner. While a couple of these are still on their YouTube channel, the rest are lost (even Posner doesn't have copies), so it would be good to see them all again and get a complete set.

There were 4 versions of Channel 4’s (and later E4's) 100 Greatest TV Ads?:

  • The original, first broadcast on Channel 4 on 29th April 2000 (presented by Graham Norton)
  • A second, updated version, first broadcast on Channel 4 on 3rd May 2003 featuring “Greatest Ads of the 21st Century” (with the same links with Graham Norton)
  • A third, updated version, first broadcast on Channel 4 on 29th August 2004 featuring slightly different “Greatest Ads of the 21st Century” (with the same links with Graham Norton)
  • A fourth version, first broadcast on E4 on 29th November 2008 (repeated on 3rd January 2009) with more updated “Greatest Ads of the 21st Century” (with new links presented by Nick Grimshaw and Miquita Oliver).

I've found the 2000 and 2004 versions, but not the 2003 and 2008 versions, so it would be good to see all 4 versions if possible.

Does anyone have these specific versions of Channel 4’s (and later E4's) 100 Greatest TV Ads? There were 4 versions of this:

In 1986, Children’s BBC held a competition to design BBC1’s Christmas ident. There were over 10,000 entries, more than the BBC expected, and so three winners were selected, with the winning icons (holly, a Christmas tree and its star) blended together for the final ident.

It was revealed during the Children's BBC slot in December 1986 by Philip Schofield while he was hosting the "Broom Cupboard" continuity between programmes. Although the ident and its surrounding trailer package is on the web, the actual unveiling of the winning ident has never surfaced as of yet. It's possible that the three icons or characters had individual names, but that may just be a rumour. It would be lovely to see this footage again if anyone has it.

Any videos looking at BBC Christmas idents tend to go from 1974 onwards for both BBC1 and BBC2; anything before that is just photos. However, this is the one remaining gap in the run of Christmas idents. Apparently, it’s a shining “2” made of tinsel in the style of the 1979 electronic “2”.

It was most likely shown between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day that year, and yet every single programme I’ve found online which might have been introduced by it (Queen: Live at the Odeon on The Old Grey Whistle Test; Christmas Day Play Away; The Evacuees; The Great Big Groovy Horse; Christmas with Rutland Weekend Television) doesn’t include it at all. I’ve been searching for years and hope that someone may have recorded it, as it's a much sought-after piece of BBC continuity. In fact, any other moving footage of BBC1 or BBC2 Christmas idents pre-1974 would also be most welcome.
