South of the Border ('88, '90)

My sister and I were extras in this show. Filmed in Gilbert House in Deptford on August 17th 1988. I even got to meet the phenomenal David Harewood right at the beginning of his career. I had a crush of Buki Armstrong too. I was 7!

Does anyone remember this show? Or know where to acquire episodes to watch?

LEGO - Mr. Bean Rides Again - With enough support it could become a real Lego set. Mr. Bean, Teddy and I would really appreciate your support. If you have a moment the support link is in the comments (thank you).

Feeling down so thought I’d watch some tv from my childhood.

Currently watching ‘Allo ‘Allo and having a good laugh. Also got Auf Wiedersehen, pet, heartbeat and all of Blackadder on my playlist.

What programmes do you remember and recommend watching? Mainly from the 90’s and 00’s but can be earlier too.

Edge of Darkness (1985)

Having just come off the back of a binge rewatch of ‘Tinker, Tailor…’, I spotted ‘Edge of Darkness’ on iPlayer. I’d never seen it, and aware of its towering reputation, I gave it a whirl and… I just don’t get the hype.

I get that it was tackling fears about nuclear from the time, but I didn’t find it particularly great at all. I found the acting to be incredibly wooden, the dialogue bizarre, and the weird interplay between all these posh guys in suits irritating as fuck. Not to mention, the guitar motif throughout really wore thin by episode 6.

When dealing with nuclear, I found ‘Threads’ was much more effective - a masterpiece. I just watched this with a weird sort of puzzlement.

Sorry if this is considered heresy. Happy to be told how wrong I am - maybe it’ll help me understand its appeal.

Thinking back to being a kid/teen in the 90s watching late night/early hours TV feels almost dreamy...

I was born in 83, and I'd say by 1990 I had a TV in my bedroom. I used to stay up late a lot to quietly watch late night TV, remote in my hand of course in case I heard my Mum.

I loved catching all the weird stuff on so late at night and in the early hours. Then I'd wake up really early most mornings as well, then just lay there watching Freescreen or teletext on loop. Or maybe tramsworld sport or something.

I miss those days. But it feels like a weird dream to think back on.

Does anyone relate?

Help needed; possible sci-fi show late 80s/ early 90s

Hi all,

Wonder if you can help. I've had distinct memories of something I saw on TV in either the late 80s or early 90s. We had Sky back then so can't be sure of the channel. It was on in the morning or early afternoon (I was alone suggesting my Mum wasn't up yet, though she was rarely seen before 2pm).

There was a boy and a group of men. They may have been on a spaceship. I have the impression that the men were prisoners. The ship landed. The boy had to go down a chute which forked: he looked up at the men who told him to go down one fork of the chute, though I think he went down the other. He ended up in a sealed room with a window. When he looked out the window he saw two men (who may have been his friends) walking past with shovels.

The next scene I remember he was outside, he meets the men, noticed some freshly dug earth and cries "you killed them!"

Does anyone have any idea what it could be?!
