Steel almirah (Godrej) vs custom wooden almirah for a new home

**Steel almirah (Godrej) vs custom wooden almirah for a new home — which one would you pick and why?** Torn between durability/cost (steel) vs aesthetics/customization (wood), especially with Bangalore humidity/termite concerns in mind. Would love to hear from folks who've lived with either for a few years.

Joint home loan in Bangalore — CIBIL 792 & 793, what rate did you actually get?

My wife and I are planning a joint home loan in Bangalore. Both in tech, both salaried.

  • My CIBIL: 792 | Wife's CIBIL: 793
  • Tenure: 20–25 years
  • Deal amount: around 2 - 2.25 cr

I've seen the advertised rates. I want to know what people actually got sanctioned.

Also how much loan can we get? we are looking for 85-90% loan if possible. Fine with 80% also.

Rate & negotiation

  1. What rate did your bank actually offer vs. what was on their website? Any room to negotiate?
  2. For joint loans with both 790+ CIBIL — did it help? Did putting the higher scorer as primary make a difference?
  3. Which bank honored the quoted rate at actual disbursal without last-minute surprises?

OD / MaxGain
4. Anyone on an OD-linked home loan — is parking and withdrawing money actually smooth, or does the bank make it difficult?
5. Is the slightly higher rate on OD loans worth it for salaried folks who get annual bonuses?

Repo rate transmission
6. When RBI cut rates in 2025, did your bank actually pass it on within 3 months — or did they delay?
7. Any banks that were particularly slow about this even on EBLR loans?

Hidden costs
8. What processing fee did you actually end up paying? Any charges that caught you off guard post-sanction?
9. Legal/technical verification — bundled or charged separately?

Prepayment
10. Anyone tried part-prepayment — did the bank reduce tenure or EMI by default? Did they give you a choice?

Joint loan specifics
11. Did the higher-income spouse as primary applicant change the sanctioned amount noticeably?
12. How are you splitting the 80C + 24(b) tax benefit between co-applicants?

Your bank experience in Bangalore
13. Which bank gave you the best overall deal — rate, service, and disbursal speed combined?
14. Direct bank vs. DSA/agent — did it actually get you a better rate or just more calls?

Australia PR vs Canada PR for Indian IT couple (QA Automation + SDE) — which is better? Need advice!

Hi Reddit,

My husband and I are both IT professionals based in Bangalore, evaluating Australia PR vs Canada PR and need honest opinions from people who've been through this.

Our profiles:

  • Me: QA Automation / SDET, 9.6 years exp, B.Tech CS
  • Husband: Software Engineer, 6.6 years exp, B.Tech Mechanical

Points calculated by agent:

  • Australia 189 = 80 pts
  • Australia 190 = 85 pts
  • Australia 491 = 95 pts

Questions:

  1. Australia vs Canada — which has better IT opportunities for QA Automation + SDE?
  2. How long did job hunt take after landing with PR?
  3. Is 80 pts competitive for 189 invitation in current draws?
  4. Anyone with Mechanical degree gone through ACS — any issues faced?
  5. Overall which country is better for Indian IT couple long term?
  6. Any regrets?

We haven't started the process yet — still evaluating. All honest opinions welcome! 🙏
