Looking for an interior designer for a new under construction villa. As i burned up all of my budget on home need a low budget minimalist modern interiors.
Scope: suggestions and improvements to the floor plan. Full interiors.
**Steel almirah (Godrej) vs custom wooden almirah for a new home — which one would you pick and why?** Torn between durability/cost (steel) vs aesthetics/customization (wood), especially with Bangalore humidity/termite concerns in mind. Would love to hear from folks who've lived with either for a few years.
Most renovation posts only show the final photos.
What they rarely show is everything that had to be fixed before the design could even begin.
This 500 sq.ft. 1 BHK apartment had been home to the family for over 10 years. Like many older apartments in Mumbai, it had gradually developed problems that couldn’t simply be covered up with new furniture or fresh paint.
Before discussing Scandinavian interiors, colour palettes or furniture layouts, we first had to understand what the home was telling us.
The major challenges included:
Persistent seepage caused by the external building walls.
Plumbing leakages that had developed over years of use.
Termite infestation due to prolonged moisture exposure.
Limited water storage for periods of water rationing—a reality many Mumbai residents can relate to.
Only after addressing these issues could we begin designing a home that would actually last.
The renovation started with:
• Waterproofing and treating the seepage.
• Replacing ageing plumbing lines to eliminate hidden leakages.
• Using wall finishes better suited to moisture-prone areas.
• Invasive anti-termite treatment before any new furniture was installed.
• Planning concealed water storage without compromising the home’s usability.
Only then did we move on to the design brief.
The clients wanted a home that felt calm, bright and easy to maintain.
Their requirements were simple:
• A Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic.
• A soft blue colour palette.
• Minimalist interiors.
• Low-maintenance finishes.
• Better storage without visual clutter.
• A home that felt larger than its actual 500 sq.ft.
Every design decision—from the materials we selected to the colour palette, furniture proportions and storage planning—was made only after the underlying issues had been permanently addressed.
The before-and-after images show much more than a visual transformation.
They represent the difference between covering up problems and solving them first.
I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts:
If you were renovating an older apartment, what would concern you the most?
Which transformation surprised you the most?
My interior designer sent me these renders which includes furniture appliances and he quoted ₹40 Lakhs including gst and his fees as well, What should be the appropriate budget carpet area approx 1250sqft
This 990 sq.ft. 3BHK was redesigned to feel larger, cleaner, and more luxurious without changing the footprint.

A documentary on the Last Artisans of Athangudi Tiles, very unfortunate to see that factories are replacing the cultural identity of Tamil Nadu. And Architects really ruling out it in their choices for interior designs.

One of the biggest challenges with compact Mumbai apartments is finding enough storage without sacrificing openness.
This 550 sq.ft. 2 BHK was delivered as a bare shell, and the brief was simple:
Some of the design decisions included:
I’ve paired each completed room with its corresponding “before” photo so you can see the transformation.
I’d genuinely love to hear your feedback:
This is the floorplan for a 3bhk+servant+store in Lucknow, [Dimensions are in mm] the super area is 2600sqft and the carpet area is 1860sqft, is this justified as a Luxury layout? Also, is a 5'9 wide balcony wide enough? Pls guide me 🙏🏻
This is after the putty . Which colour would suit here . Please help me out. The nearing colour is 8436 white delight Asian paints
Attached ground floor details as well.
I feel these kind of design styles are timeless but people are not preferring this anymore. Or maybe MINIMAL style has taken over everything. What do you guys think ?
I'm building a G+2 house and would appreciate a second opinion on this beam plan.
My main question is about the top-right corner of the drawing (highlighted by the multiple narrow downslab sections along the right exterior wall).
I'm wondering:

I’m confused on which kind of might should I use in my 2bhk house. I was planning on using all COB downlight with cove strip light.
But the electrition is insisting on using panel lights instead for better illumination.
What’s the best plan here?
Can you help with reviewing the interior work cost given, thank you.
This is the wood work quotation shared by my interior design for 3bhk in Bangalore and what is missing in this quote and the questions that can I need to ask my designer basis this?
