I have been searching Pinterest for my upcoming flat TV unit design. We want floor to ceiling panels and I loved the Image with green fluted panels. I used chatgpt to add that image to my model flats TV unit wall. Give your suggestions if its a good one or not. My husband says it makes the place feel cramped.

How to optimise this area

We're getting our home remodelled and got an architect friend to help us out. All is to our liking but we'd like ideas as to how to best use this area because it feels like a waste of space and having a long corridor isnt optimal for us but this layout seems apt according to our needs. All suggestions are welcome

Need help designing my Room

Hi guys, need help designing my room. Here are some points to note:
- This room is on 1st floor, with just 1, but large, window - so overall, well-lit.
- The Room is for my Partner & I.
- Our basic furniture is set, I need help in deciding colours for this.. I am unable to visualise how it will all come together & what colours will look good.

I have attached the layout and inspo pictures, in the order as stated here:

  1. The Layout. Yellow is for dressing table unit, greys are wardrobe, blue is study desk, orange is bed & pinks are side-tables.
  2. this is the bed-backdrop inspo. Louvres on both sides of the bed & some wallpaper in between)
  3. This is the dressing table inspo.
  4. 4-6 are the current set furniture layouts
  5. 7-9 are few colour inspos that we have
  6. 10 - Bedroom colour-pop inspo.
  7. Something I liked on Pinterest.

My other concern is - there’s no colour in the room. I’d like to have some colour-pop in the room. I was thinking of maroon/burgandy for the bed headboard. Open to other suggestions!
Last pic is the attached bedroom-inspo that I like; but again idk how to bring all that together.

Can anybody here help me visualise this? Happy to address any questions & open for suggestions.

Help please 😭

Need Suggestions: Interior Designer vs Contractor for 1 BHK Renovation?

I wanted to change my 1 BHK flooring along with kitchen and bathroom tiles.

I’m confused whether I should involve an interior designer or just take quotations from contractors and get the work done directly through a contractor.

Are there any disadvantages of not involving an interior designer?

For civil renovation works like flooring, tiling, bathroom, kitchen basic work — is an interior designer actually needed or can a good contractor handle everything properly?

Would love suggestions from designers and people who have done similar renovation work.

The truth about hiring interior designers for small homes

We see this advice everywhere- ‘small homes need interior designers because every inch matters.’ Sounds right, but it’s only half true.

Yes, an interior designer helps if your space is genuinely tricky- awkward layout, no storage logic, too many people in too little space. They can reduce daily friction.

But a lot of small homes don’t have a space problem. They have a decision and lifestyle problem. If your layout is standard and your needs are simple, a designer won’t be able to magically fix things like- overbuying storage, mixing too many styles, setting up your home for guests instead of yourself, etc.

With poor decisions, hiring an interior designer will help you will just end up with a nicer-looking version of the same issues.

Also, hiring a designer doesn’t automatically mean a better home. Plenty of spaces look great in photos but are frustrating to live in, especially small ones. So the real question isn’t ‘Is a designer worth it?’, it is ‘What’s the actual problem with your space, and what do you want from it?’

At the end of the day, it’s your house. The core ideas should come from you. Interior designers will just help you realise your dream, but it’s your dream after all.

Looking for Interior Designers who can work on an Ikea-First approach.

So, me and my wife have been seeing interior designers and firms for designing our 3BHK apartment.

But the catch is, we are looking for someone who has expertise in working with Ikea products. Someone who can customise and work with Ikea systems like Besta, Eket, Pax, Billy, etc to design a beautiful and functional apartment for us.

I know, that Ikea products might not be the best, but the modularity it offers is what we are impressed with. Inserts, their own storage boxes that perfectly fit inside their own cabinets, accessories that can be added later, etc.

Is there any firm or Designer in Bangalore that you kind folks can recommend? Thank you :)

Interior Advice

what interior design vibe would match with this room? i was thinking of either wooden coffee table and go towards a contemporary earthy style or go with black wood coffee table and tie with the dining table and make it slightly modern style. idk which goes well and i couldn’t find any good coffee table that works well. should i go with either of these style or is there better options. since the sofa is green, i don’t get much options in designs. i looked at many coffee tables but couldn’t decide on one. the ones i absolutely loved were way out of my price range. help.

People who chose veneer over laminate (or vice versa), any regrets after living with it for a few years?

Parents are renovating the house and I didn’t realize how divided people are on the laminate vs veneer debate 😭 One side says veneer feels way more premium and “alive” because it’s actual wood. Other side says laminates today already look good enough and are way less stressful to maintain long term, especially in Indian homes where dust, moisture, scratches, etc are unavoidable.Went down a rabbit hole visiting showroom went to this Royale Touche while researching, and now I’m even more confused because both sides make valid points.

What’s confusing me is that almost every interior designer pushes veneer emotionally, but most homeowners I know seem happier with laminates after 2–3 years of actual usage.

Paint suggestions for exterior

Need suggestions for my house exterior paint
I'm finalizing the exterior colors for my new house and wanted some opinions before painting.
Current plan:
• Main exterior shade: warm off-white / creamy neutral tone
• Accent areas: soft beige / light greige
• Main gate & balcony grills: Matte Black
Style I'm going for:
Modern + elegant + premium look without looking too flashy.
I also decided to avoid heavy stone cladding because I wanted a cleaner and more timeless elevation.
Would this combination look balanced for a modern Indian home?
Any Asian Paints exterior shade recommendations that would suit this style?
Would love honest feedback and color recommendations

Looking for Interior Designer referrals? Modern Indian / "Global Desi" aesthetic (US/Virtual consult)

Hi everyone,

We are gearing up for a pretty comprehensive home renovation project and are looking for recommendations for an interior designer who specializes in or has a strong portfolio in Modern Indian interior design (sometimes called contemporary South Asian or "Global Desi" fusion).

We love the warmth, rich textures, and heritage elements of traditional Indian design (think brass accents, intricate woodwork, vibrant textiles, or localized art), but want to seamlessly blend it with a clean, functional, modern aesthetic—avoiding anything that feels overly heavy, dark, or cluttered.

Ideally, we are looking for a designer who:

  • Offers virtual consultations/remote design services (or is based in the US).
  • Has experience bridging traditional South Asian elements with modern layouts, lighting, and finishes.
  • Can provide spatial planning and material/furniture curation.

If you have personally worked with someone you loved, or if you are a designer yourself with a portfolio that fits this vibe, please drop a link or send a DM!

Thanks in advance!

Hob suggestions - Electric or Gas?

We are starting to get our kitchen done in a few weeks, and as the work is going on, we are looking for a 4 burner built-in hob. We're discussing if we have to get an electric hob or a gas hob.

What do you suggest? And why is it better? What are my pro and cons according to your experience?

I would like to know the price ranges for a good one, the brands to look at, or something in specific to look out for while choosing one as I'm pretty new in this field. Any suggestions would be really helpful.

Thank you!

Will a 50-55 inch TV will work here?

I am contemplating the idea to install a TV on the top portion where you see the wire point, it's almost 6-feet wide and 2.6-feet height. It's almost 13-feet from my bed back and the sliding door height is 8-feet.

Will it work? Or it would be a waste of money. The idea is to watch some movie or videos once in a while or in free time, not heavy usage, just moving from laptop to here. I will install with TV mount with tilt so that angle can be adjusted for my viewing purpose.

Edit: Idea dropped, thanks for the comments, it helped me think clearly.
