Game Discussion #91 - Panel de Pon

Love this one. Probably one of the best puzzle games on a Nintendo system.

I have to pose people with the question on the box art. When’s the last time YOU had a Tetris Attack? Check in with your doctor if they seem to be frequent.

Game Discussion #90 - Operation Logic Bomb

I don’t have much to say here, I haven’t played this one. Haven’t played very much Jaleco.

Game Discussion #89 - Rygar

I mean…it’s Rygar!

…Okay, not having much to say on this one, did you know that this game got a reboot sequel on PS2? I’m pretty sure everyone’s forgotten by now.

Game Discussion #88 - Pop’n TwinBee

Haven’t played much of TwinBee but I do enjoy it. The genre of colorful shooters is always very fun to me.

Game Discussion #87 - Shadow of the Ninja

Another game of the genre of “Our dev team should try doing Ninja Gaiden.” Even a port of it got retooled into a Ninja Gaiden game. I haven’t played this one yet.

Game Discussion #86 - The Mystery of Atlantis

A very interesting little game, and an early Sunsoft release. I don’t know much about what’s within it, except for the Black Hole level, which is a really funny idea.

Friends update - MCP and CLU

If you’re wondering why they seem to be on their own small island, that’s because they are. You have to take the Solar Sailer to get over there.

Game Discussion #85 - Eliminator Boat Duel

I haven’t played much of this one, I’m sure the gameplay is decent, but the presentation on this one is very weird and not entirely appealing.

Game Discussion #84 - Super Punch-Out!!

Honestly, compared to the original Punch-Out, I’ve never cared for this one especially much. Something’s just a bit off about this one. Not that it’s a bad game or anything, I still think it’s enjoyable, but when I play it I just want to play the original.

Game Discussion #83 - Star Fox 2

The legendary cancelled and later revived game. It puts an interesting twist on the first game’s gameplay, and I kind of wish it hadn’t been cancelled so I could see how the series evolution differed.

Game Discussion #82 - Kirby Super Star

I love this one! Eight games! What a deal! And they’re all pretty good to boot. This is another one I’d recommend everyone play.

Game Discussion #81 - Breath of Fire II

Definitely superior to the first game, but I also haven’t played this one. I really should when I have the time.

Game Discussion #80 - Route-16 Turbo

Another Japan-only release. Being an early Famicom game, it’s not very complex, so there’s not much to this one besides driving around a car and collecting things.

Game Discussion #79 - Journey to Silius

A side-scrolling action game with an awesome soundtrack, typical of Sunsoft games at this time. It was originally made as a Terminator game, but they lost the license, so made something original instead.

Game Discussion #78 - Famicom Wars

Another Japan only release. It’s a turn-based military strategy game, meant for competition between two players. You build weapons and try attacking the other player’s base with them. A lot more can be said of its eventual successor, Advance Wars.

I have finally watched Tron for the first time

If you remember, a few weeks ago I posted an image of my Mii for the MCP that I did in Tomodachi Life, saying that I’d never actually watched the movies and only knew it from Kingdom Hearts. Since everyone in the comments told me to watch it, I decided to do that tonight.

I don’t have much to say on it, but despite the entirety of the movie being mostly incomprehensible gibberish that barely had its plot together, I loved it. Maybe I like it when movies aren’t afraid to be overly experimental and go all out with trying to make something work. For the time it released, I’d imagine these special effects were great.

Also, Dumont has a really stupid outfit with hands coming out of where his nipples should be. End of line.

Game Discussion #77 - Crystalis

We’re back to NES games. For now, we’ll be alternating between NES and SNES releases for these discussion threads.

I haven’t played much of Crystalis but I really want to play more of it. It’s a fun take on the popular Zelda-style formula of the time.
