Game Discussion #90 - Operation Logic Bomb

I don’t have much to say here, I haven’t played this one. Haven’t played very much Jaleco.

Game Discussion #89 - Rygar

I mean…it’s Rygar!

…Okay, not having much to say on this one, did you know that this game got a reboot sequel on PS2? I’m pretty sure everyone’s forgotten by now.

Anyone Down to Play KI SNES Next Weekend?

Hey there Combo Breakers. I run a small-time podcast/Youtube show about Nintendo Switch Online and I thought you might like to join us next weekend for an online KI tournament. FYI, we'll be playing using NSO's god-awful netcode, and it's open to amateurs, meaning Easy Combo Breakers will be on. I'm sure anyone in this Reddit will probably smoke us, but if you're bored and would like to make some new friends and (probably) win an eShop gift card, please consider checking us out. Cheers!

Game Discussion #88 - Pop’n TwinBee

Haven’t played much of TwinBee but I do enjoy it. The genre of colorful shooters is always very fun to me.

Game Discussion #87 - Shadow of the Ninja

Another game of the genre of “Our dev team should try doing Ninja Gaiden.” Even a port of it got retooled into a Ninja Gaiden game. I haven’t played this one yet.

One of the most underrated aspects of retro gaming on the Switch is the massive selection of arcade games, especially access to Nintendo's classics.

Game Discussion #84 - Super Punch-Out!!

Honestly, compared to the original Punch-Out, I’ve never cared for this one especially much. Something’s just a bit off about this one. Not that it’s a bad game or anything, I still think it’s enjoyable, but when I play it I just want to play the original.

Game Discussion #86 - The Mystery of Atlantis

A very interesting little game, and an early Sunsoft release. I don’t know much about what’s within it, except for the Black Hole level, which is a really funny idea.

Game Discussion #85 - Eliminator Boat Duel

I haven’t played much of this one, I’m sure the gameplay is decent, but the presentation on this one is very weird and not entirely appealing.

Here's something that I thought would be fun to share. These are the games with the most playtime on my NSO Classics libraries.

Game Discussion #83 - Star Fox 2

The legendary cancelled and later revived game. It puts an interesting twist on the first game’s gameplay, and I kind of wish it hadn’t been cancelled so I could see how the series evolution differed.

Mr. Do! 🍒

Eating, throwing or crushing... Mr. Do! is very active!

Arcade Archives Mr. Do! has at long last become a reality. It's one of my absolute favorite arcade classics, so I drew this tribute to mark the occasion.

Now that the arcade version is available, it's quite possible that the SNES version could be added to Nintendo Classics in the future as well.

Though it's not arcade perfect, the SNES port features the addition of a simultaneous two-player mode, making it a particularly excellent candidate for the online service.

Game Discussion #82 - Kirby Super Star

I love this one! Eight games! What a deal! And they’re all pretty good to boot. This is another one I’d recommend everyone play.

Game Discussion #81 - Breath of Fire II

Definitely superior to the first game, but I also haven’t played this one. I really should when I have the time.

The next batch of five Virtual Boy games are live!

Ever wanted to play some all-time retro classics—only slathered in red, whilst peering into the confines of a dark, crimson box...? Then, this latest Nintendo Classics update is sure to satisfy your strange and niche cravings! Credit where credit is due: at five whole games, this is one of the meatier updates. Debits where debits are due: if you don't own either the replica or the cardboard Virtual Boy accessory—you get nothing. Good day, sir.

Okay, okay... Any update is worth celebrating, and this one does preserve some rather obscure (and expensive) releases from everybody involved—including the first Megami Tensei-adjacent title ever brought to the West: Jack Bros. Here's the full list of what's featured:

  • Space Invaders Virtual Collection • (Taito)
  • V-Tetris • (Locomotive)
  • Jack Bros. • (Atlus)
  • Vertical Force • (Hudson Soft)
  • Virtual Bowling • (Athena)

The Japanese app adds one more exclusive title:

  • バーチャルフィッシング [Virtual Fishing] • (Locomotive)

With these six—only the never-before-released D-Hopper and Zero Racers remain, of the Virtual Boy titles that were previously revealed... and 15 of the 22 titles in the complete Virtual Boy library are accounted for. That is pretty darn worthy of praise.

Playing Old Nintendo Games

Hi all, I've been wanting to play some old Nintendo games like Banjo Kazooie, Mario 64, Mario Sunshine, and Bomberman 64. I'm clueless when it comes to emulators and I also don't want to pay for a subscription to Nintendo online just to play these if they have it . . . Which is ridiculous, they should just let us buy a game and not have to subscribe.

If anyone can lead me in the right direction?

Also, in my research I noticed they released Super Mario 3D all-stars for the Switch which was Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy . . . But only for a limited time? Dafuq? Lol I got so excited when I found that, but it's not available anymore.
