So...what's the purpose of the skull?

So firstly, we all can agree The Dead Shall Rise and the game are terrible. It took the story and lore we love and slapped unnecessary things into it. I really just like to see this as an alternate universe and not seriously canon.

With that said, I will bite and try to chew exactly what they were trying to go for. And I am not sure if there was meant to be a continuation of the story of The Dead Shall Rise. But I got to ask the unfortunate question: were they trying to make an actual purpose for the skull on the Soul Reaver? Are they trying to show us that the skull belonged to Elaleth? And for what purpose? Like...was she supposed to be the key to trap Raziel into the reaver? Or was it part of the paradox she was trying to reach for? Because it seemed like her paradox was...nothing.

Trying to puzzle it together is just confusing. I can look past the other things, like her being the reason Kain went to resurrected the Sarafan or being the reason Raziel got his wings (which was also stupid) and the likes. But something about the Soul Reaver scene when Kain stabs her with it. It just has to be more to that, right? Like...for what purpose would her skull even be?

Considered First Horror Game?

So I been feeling a bit retro and been playing some Atari 50. And the one game that stands out to me is Haunted House. And it got me thinking and I wanted to pick some brains. I know it's not the real "first" horror game made. But it definitely is one that stands out as a "grandfather of horror games" to many people.

But with that said, the game did leave an impact to some and it still sticks around. There was even a fun "remake" on Atari 50 by Digital Eclipse. As well as a recent family friendly Haunted House game that released. I always feel Haunted House was maybe where it left its mark of being the first game to be 'spooky' with ghosts and visibility being limited that helped create more icons down the road like Clock Tower, Resident Evil, Silent Hill and the likes. Wouldn't you say?
