Parking at faulkner

When I look into the parking portal it’s showing options for S1, S4, S5, and moped parking but I’m unsure if I am allowed to buy the S1 and S5 passes. When you look at the available permits site it says that S1 is for residents of copeley and S5 is for central and west grounds housing. I’m living at faulkner which has the S4 lot beside it.

The S1 and S5 permits are a lot cheaper than S4. It’s showing that all of these passes are available to purchase tomorrow but I don’t want to buy the cheaper one then have it revoked or something because I’m not a copeley resident. Anyone know anything about this?

What time could I expect to go in the 200 fly?

I started swimming 200 fly earlier this year during the winter. I went a 2:07 SCY suited my first swim and a 2:04 my second swim. Recently I’ve been doing more 200s fly in practice to prepare. The fastest I’ve gone is a 2:09 unsuited from a push with minimal warmup. I know speed in training varies from person to person but would it be realistic for me to aim for sub 2:00 in the upcoming season?

Faster fly turns

I’m wondering how I could go about improving my turns for butterfly. My current best time in SCY is 54.1 but I believe I could likely go mid 53 or lower by now since the last time I swam it was in november. I think my turns are better than what they used to be and I get my knees in quicker and higher but I feel like my approach could use some work and that I sometimes lose some momentum going into the wall.

Unless I hit a perfect turn where my hands land almost on top of the wall, when I glide a little bit into the wall I feel like it makes it harder for me to get around quickly since I wouldn’t be moving as fast when I actually initiate the turn.

How could I lose less speed when this happens so that I can turn as quickly as possible? My turns also seem to get slower as my upper body gets more fatigued which I guess could be a sign that I’m relying too much on that while turning.

Also, is it optimal to look up slightly on the approach to the wall to anticipate when my hands touch or to keep my head down and wait for when my fingers feel it?

Overall what are some tips for getting faster turns? Just things that I could try to remember in training

Help finding a sci-fi artist

I’ve seen a few of this artists drawings that have a very futuristic sci-fi type theme. The art is something that gives a similar vibe as fallout. There is a lot of machinery, armor, etc. I think I remember his name being something maybe brazilian sounding or close to that area. It was similar to H.R. Giger’s art

The one drawing I remember most vividly is one of a person wearing a suit of armor that was silver and the helmet was similar to a gas mask but with a very long metal tube extending from the mouth area

This part might be a reach but I feel like I remember some of the drawings also being kind of america themed almost?

I feel like he is/was a well known artist but I haven’t been able to find any familiar drawings

Swimming after piercing

I swim competitively and was going to get my ear pierced and I was wondering if it would be bad to swim just after piercing it. If it would be, are there any solutions?

Open turns on flat walls

Everyone once in a while i have to race in pools that have flat walls instead of a gutter and I always find it really hard to do open turns when there’s nothing to anchor my hand on. Like it feels a lot more difficult to turn myself around quickly. Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with this?

Need 200 fly set recommendations

I recently got more into swimming the 200 fly after mostly doing 100s and 50s in the past and i’d like to add some more variety to my training. Currently one of my favorite but a bit grueling sets involves 20 x 50s fly on :45 then usually i’ll add some broken 200s or 100s afterwards. I can do 200s fly at probably about 7 or 8/10 effort in practice but usually doing one will build up a bit of fatigue for a while that I have to deal with by doing other stuff. What are your favorite sets?

Ibuprofen before races?

Has anybody experimented with taking ibuprofen before races? I know it sounds kinda bad but if you take it in a normal dose wouldn’t it theoretically increase your pain tolerance and possibly allow for faster times? I’ve heard of people doing this in track but not really swimming.

Swimming and creatine

I swim competitively and I was wondering if it might be a good idea for me to take creatine. I also lift consistently so I’d be looking for benefits in that as well. The only thing I was worried about was as the fact that creatine often makes you put on water which I thought could maybe add dead weight but I could be wrong. Anybody have any experience taking it?

Plateaued on weighted pull ups

For context I am 160 lbs. I’ve been doing pull ups/chin ups themselves for around 3 years partially because I swim as well and I feel that it helps with that. My progress for weighted pull ups has flattened out around 80lbs for 4 reps. I don’t really go over that for weight because I’m not sure it would be beneficial to be doing 2-3 rep sets. I’ve recently started doing muscle ups as well and progressed well for those but haven’t been seeing much progress for the pull ups. Does anybody have any recommendations for rep ranges and whatnot? I’m not sure if I should be doing less weight and just trying to add more reps or doing more weight and trying to get back to my previous rep ranges. I also do unweighted pull ups and it seems to be a similar situation where I’ve flattened out around a certain rep range. Anybody experienced anything like this? Any advice would be appreciated

Does anybody who’s taken APMA 1110 remember the class having a curve at the end of the semester? I’m just wondering because the syllabus doesn’t mention it and I’ve never heard anyone ask.

I mostly understand how you do these problems. For this one, all you had to do was write the integral for hydrostatic force on the plate. My teacher’s solution if you set 0 at the water line was integral from 0 to 2 of pgy (2sqrt(16-(2-y)^2)). The part I am confused on is why the width for this shape uses 2-y instead of y-2.

What is the condition that causes that part of the width to become the constant subtracting the variable? I’m just confused because another problem we had a full circle and it was y-3.
