Starfish question

Does anyone know how Starfish notes/flags work in college or professional programs?

I’m a student with strong grades, mostly A’s and B’s, and I put a lot of effort into my coursework. Recently, I became concerned that some faculty may be documenting negative comments about me in Starfish that do not seem reflected in my academic performance or the work I’ve submitted.

I’m trying to understand who can see these notes. Are they only visible to advisors/student support staff, or can multiple professors and program faculty see them too? Could these notes affect things like recommendations, progression in the program, clinical/experiential placements, or applications to another program within the same school?

I’m also wondering what options students have if they believe something written in Starfish is inaccurate or unfair. Is there usually a way to request clarification, respond to the note, or have the record reviewed?

I’m not trying to escalate unnecessarily, but I am concerned about how this could affect me long-term, especially if the comments are subjective and not backed up by grades or formal disciplinary findings.

real estate ads

I'm a Realtor and I also run several local Facebook groups that I've built over the years. I often sell advertising in those groups, although I don't charge my own real estate clients to post.

This morning, someone who already has a listing agent posted an open house advertisement in one of my groups. Since she's represented by another agent, I removed the post and removed her from the group because I felt it was a conflict of interest to use my audience to promote another agent's listing.

She has since messaged me asking why she was removed.

If you were in my position, would you explain the reason, or would you simply not respond? I'm curious how other Realtors and business owners would handle this situation.

Class officers scheduled our only yearly gathering on a religious holiday

Earlier in the year, I was interested in being a class officer but wasn’t selected. Obviously, not getting a position you want is part of life, and I accepted that. Not everyone gets every role they apply for.

What has been bothering me, though, is what happened afterward. The class officers have barely done anything all year. In previous years, class officers organized events, communicated with students, and were generally active. This year, there has been very little involvement.

To make matters worse, the one major class gathering they organized (which only happens about once a year) was scheduled on a religious holiday that I observe. Beforehand, I had specifically mentioned that I would not be able to attend if it fell on that holiday and asked that they try to choose a date that would be inclusive of everyone.

Despite that, the event was scheduled on that exact day, so I can’t attend.

I’m not upset simply because I wasn’t chosen as a class officer. What frustrates me is that the people selected haven’t seemed very active in the role, the one significant event of the year was scheduled on a day that excludes some students, and a concern that had been raised in advance does not appear to have been taken into consideration.

I understand that scheduling can be difficult and that not every date will work for everyone. Still, it’s hard not to feel disappointed and excluded when the only major class gathering of the year ends up being on a religious holiday that prevents me from attending. Would most people be frustrated in this situation?
