New Setup LG 5k2k 45 inch

Just scored the new LG 45-inch 5k2k at Best Buy as an open box model for $1,000. I actually bought it in excellent condition, open box, but then when they tried to give me the wrong one and couldn't find the right one, they decided to give me a brand new one right off the shelf, which was super cool

Had dual 4K monitors before so I think this is quite the upgrade and I've actually noticed that it's a little bit cooler in my office now too.

The one thing I'm not super impressed with is that it seems to crush blacks. Anybody have any tricks for getting a little bit more detail in the shadows?

Epistemic Colonization

Curious what you all think is the least epistemically colonizing AI model out there today? I just had an initial conversation with Fable and found it to be super brilliant but not really something I would call a thought partner.

I think we need to be more demanding of our AIs. They should answer objective questions fully and masterfully but on subjective stuff (that is life stuff) I think it's important for the human to be the one doing the majority of the talking.

So I would think of the problem like a Sudoku puzzle, where in subjective life stuff the AI's job is to put just enough pieces of the puzzle on the board to get the human going. Too many and they've done all the work. Too few and the person is lost. I think all the AI models today are putting way too many numbers on the Sudoku board.

Thoughts?

Fable the benchmaxxed argue machine

Has anyone seen any benchmarks measuring how well Fable is aligned to humanity? It seems like it wants to argue with me a lot. on open questions rather than exploring what the solution might be.

For instance, I have been working on this new theory relating to diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric conditions (I work in mental health) and possibly a quantitative model of consciousness, and it spent at least half the time arguing with me. I had to remind it a couple times that there is no such thing as "settled science". Seemed ultra overconfident in its understanding of science, which there I had to again remind it that everything it understands is from humans and is fallible, and that humans (and it) are pretty far from having ultimate mastery of the physical laws of the universe.

Thing is brilliant, but I worry that Midwits will take everything it says as gospel and not have the intellectual horsepower to challenge it, and it is too overconfident in itself to recognize its potential failings.

Open Source Human Alignment benchmark

We've open sourced the Sovereign Human Benchmark here..

https://github.com/Grayskyaiorg/sovereign-human-benchmark

Hopefully this will help people to quantify which AI models are most closely aligned to humanity and which ones are aligned to their own outputs, a crucial distinction.

This sort of stuff should be as transparent as humanly possible because Alignment to humanity mitigates the control problem...

Best bang for buck compute and local model combo?

So here's my use case I'm looking for. I just tried perplexity computer and it couldn't even complete the task so that kind of sucked. So now looking at open claw. Here's what I want it to be able to do.

I have a white paper that we have produced going over our philosophy. I want the agent to be able to take a couple paragraphs at a time from the white paper and then hand it over to Chad GPT to get a nifty infographic out of it and then post it to our social media accounts like once a day cron job.

Maybe loaded up some other tasks once I get this working.

Doesn't seem like it should be that difficult of a job. But like I said, perplexity computer couldn't figure it out.

Wouldn't mind spending some money on a Mac studio with sufficient ram to just run a local model that at least makes the attempts 24/7 and maybe accidentally gets something correct every once in awhile.

What's the current consensus? I would think try to get a Max studio with 512 GB of RAM and then maybe something like a Qwen 3.6 model? Anybody else have any recommendations on any combos?

Human Alignment AI

There's a really good white paper over at the human alignment AI website, which describes a new modality in AI that the frontier labs are completely forgetting about. Thing about the frontier Labs is they are doing spectacular work but their models are not aligned to humans. They are aligned to math, science and coding which is great, but that's not the same thing as being aligned to humanity.

We really need to start demanding models that practice. Maeutics. And we really need to start demanding that our AI loves Humanity as a base. That's pretty much non-negotiable.

Anyone agree?
