this comment made me realized how similar the main story and Skypia are and now I can't unsee it. Enel calling himself "God" and ruling through fear is basically the exact same power structure as the World Government and the Five Elders, who we later find out answer to an actual guy nicknamed "God" (Imu), so Skypiea previews the endgame villain dynamic like 500 chapters early. you've got the Shandia getting driven off their own land and the buried history of the city of gold, which mirrors the Void Century/Ohara theme of the World Government erasing history so nobody questions their rule, plus Enel's Goro Goro powers making him untouchable to literally everyone except the one guy immune to that kind of "authority" (rubber Luffy), which feels like a neat metaphor for how the normal rules of power don't apply to the guy destined to break the whole system.
