Magnolia’s being hacked by client’s neighbor

Hi there,
I am a maintenance gardener in San Francisco, CA. My client has two beautiful magnolias in her backyard. A couple of years ago she got a new neighbor who constantly cuts any growth back to the property line. I myself have never cut these trees. The cutting occurs on the left in the photo. You can see branches cut back to bare wood.

They have quite a lot of new growth on the opposing side of the tree, they’ve become very lopsided. I am worried the trees are now going to fail and the constant cutting is adding stress to the trees.

I mentioned this to my client and she agreed but seemed at a loss for what to do.
I am looking to get some advice that I can pass along to her. I thought sending a certified letter insisting no more pruning be done by the neighbors? It is an older woman who I think does the pruning on her own. She doesn’t speak English but I think her grandchildren or children do.

Thanks for any info you can help provide.

Ongoing anal fistula

My 12 year old neutered husky mix (German shepherd, malamute, Samoyed) has been dealing with a ruptured gland. He absolutely hates the vet and it’s a big todo of medication and muzzle. Even then he pushes through the meds and I have to help handle him.

He has a sensitive stomach, was on homemade food with balance.it. Have since switched back to kibble- in the morning he gets kibble with his daily carprofen for arthritis, in the evening he gets kibble with some psyllium husk powder and a couple tablespoons of canned wet food. This has improved his stool significantly. He’s been on antibiotics for this in the past- clavamox. It causes stomach upset. He doesn’t do any “normal” gland issue signs- no scooting.

I have been doing a nightly warm compress, was spraying with diluted chlorohexidine. I clipped the fur and pat it dry after cleaning. After about a month of it, it is no longer inflamed, doesn’t appear to be draining much. Inflammation is gone. I saw one of the surface level tunnels disappear, though there seems to be one bigger opening that doesn’t seem to go away.

Each time we go to the vet for this they just try to express the gland- which makes him scream! And then give us antibiotics and send us on our way.

Should I continue compress and see if the final opening closes? I have stopped the chlorohexidine for about 3 days now. Any advise is greatly welcome, I also have pictures for anyone interested. Thanks for any help.
