I remember a story about someone taking a train in Europe alone and then stopping at an elderly lady's home because of exhaustion. He stayed in a dark room and couldn't fall asleep, and heard noises coming from the living room and out of caution he slept under the bed and found a dead body there. Moments later the host came in and started stabbing the bed, and that's when he realized he made the right move.

I'm not sure if this is Mr. Nightmare, Lazy Masquerade, Be Busta, Corpose Husband, etc but does anyone recognize this story?

I really need advice with this case because I accepted an offer in the Aerospace field in my mid 20s, and had accepted the offer since they gave me a very short window to make a decision. That said, my start date is in 2 weeks and I already signed a lease and booked a flight there. However, I haven’t told my MEP team (been with them for a year now) & feel extremely guilty. Even with today being Labor Day, I know I should tell them but I’m worried I’m making the wrong decision sacrificing comfort and the ability to work hybrid. I know everyone says MEP will always have your back, but I’m worried I’m giving up a wonderful team, company, & stability to try something new that might not be there if I try to return.

Also, with me being so indecisive, if I do give my 2 weeks today, would it look very bad since it’d technically be “11 days” notice? Or would you recommend keeping the relationship I have rn and instead back out of the Aerospace offer after accepting

I signed a lease for a rental in Seattle as well and had already pushed my start date back to September. However, a parent’s diagnosis means I can’t leave my home city to travel and work on the West Coast. It’s for a new-grad engineering role, and I was really looking forward to it, but I have a feeling I’ll regret turning it down. However, life has changed since I accepted the offer. Should I email the recruiter and let him know? I know he'll be so disappointed, esp since him and and I know I’ll probably get blacklisted :( Would u recommend I show my parent's medical reports and my signed lease, so they don't assume I just chose another job offer?

Or is it something that is a nice to have since obviously less not needed in the industry

I see a lot that it can be “feast or famine”, what parts make it very stressful? I found the most stressful part being when the architect changes the rooms, etc and there’s a lot of last minute rework for plumbing design. Other stuff relate to very shallow budgets requiring a lot of work for a few hours, and therefore using other project hours for this

I’m not the youngest, and might be a bit old for pivoting in my career (26) but have an offer on the table for a LCOL state nearing 6 figures for a design engineering role for space vehicle harnesses. However, this means leaving behind a stable progression in the MEP field, albeit at low 80s after 2 years and 3% raise annually in New York City. The only reason I can afford it is because I’m living with family & only paying 600$ in rent (but obviously I’d like to move out). I’m really conflicted, and know the risk that I can switch industries and get laid off but also lose my chance at returning back to my company, especially since our niche is small and applying to other similar roles would alert my group leader

Im a Pakistani-American 26 y/o and live in NYC. I recently got heartbroken by a girl I really like that I was talking to, and have my personal weight loss goals of losing 100lbs. I’m 6’2 but currently 283 lbs, and this is a huge reason for my talking stage not proceeding, so biggest priority is prolonged fasting cycles to lose 100 lb in 2-3 months.

Zayn is my favorite artist and I saw him 3 times in Vegas already (including 2 this year during the residency). I can afford the trip from NYC to Mexico City, and can get a cheap hotel for the weekend and will water fast then too and avoid Ubers. I estimate the trip costing about 550 USD (400$ flights & 150$ Hotel for 2 nights). I anticipate getting the ticket an hr before, when the prices drop. I don't expect to spend anything on food, uber, etc.

Is doing this a bad idea? I want it as an escape but don't want it to seem controlled by having her see that I am 'okay' and not sulking while heartbroken. My friend also said seeing Zayn 2x already this year, this will just dilute the experience. Do you recommend I go or focus on my fitness journey and put all the effort into that?

Or even uncomfortable around dogs, I respect it’s a dog frirendly workplace but what are some rules? Are they allowed in kitchens? Production floors? Etc

I remember in the mid 2000s (2012-2015) Toronto FC Academy would have open tryouts once a year at the Downsview Hanger, and remember trying out every year I was eligible. I think I was 12-15 y/o when I tried out. I obviously never made it to the academy but remember always being excited every year, and remember those huge booklets of waivers to sign.

Does anyone know if they still do that, and how it worked? I remember they mentioned that selected candidates would join the academy, but is that like a salaries job where you get a chance to join Toronto FC or is it a pipeline for all academy graduates?

I'm not too familiar with immigration, but I always wondered how celebrities who aren't green card holders or citizens live in the US? For ex: Tate McRae lives in NYC and Zayn lives in PA, and both own property - but how do they stay for long durations?

I needed advice for a large MEP firm in a VHCOL city. I started at the same time as another new grad for the same role, but found myself with extreme imposter syndrome recently despite having years of experience in the space industry.

I noticed he’s been the go to for BIM questions by senior members in our team, given enticing projects, and overall involved in more meetings with Associate Principals and Principals. I still work really hard and got great feedback, but was told to be more visible and I feel singled out by this because a lot of other members in our team aren’t outspoken. I noticed I’ve gotten more busywork (calcs that aren’t used, adjusting key notes, adjusting borders, & very simple markups) and just feel at a standstill career wise

I heard raises to next level are about every 3 years, so does that mean no raises until 3 yrs at a time? Is it performance based? Is there a % range?

I started at a very large MEP firm as an entry level engineer post college, and found myself to be pushed out and given busy work mainly due to being an introvert & finding it hard to be visible. I am also in one of the most expensive cities in the USA with only a high 70s salary. I recently got a job offer in a tax free state for one of the big large space companies for a Systems Engineering (Avionics) role. I did an internship in this and that’s why I got it, and it’s 10k more. I know it’s a volatile field, so do I take the risk or stick with MEP and ride the 3-4% raise to match/beat inflation, but with the job security?

I was never a fan of his but being in the GTA area, I noticed he lived in a mansion and from his vlogs he has lambos and other very expensive cars. I know he is a corrupt person who fakes content left and right, and lies in every aspect. But looking at his YouTube channels, I've seen him delete vids with 20k views and only keep the ones that passed several hundred thousand to make it look like he's still relevant, and then claim he's not active in posting. On his main channel he posted a song with obviously bought viewers because how is there 1M+ views and so few comments and likes? The song sucks btw

I then noticed he makes most of his money on TikTok lives + battles, along with his SILs and wife doing that. I thought TikTok takes half of that, and also is he really making millions from that to afford everything, I didn't even know he had a cult following like that. I'm not saying this outta jealousy, its just dissapointing that being fake someone's whole life led them to still afford a lavish lifestyle
