baby’s leg movement decreased within a week

hello everyone. I am posting as a pregnant parent (21w 1d) I know that parents posting in this sub has been a more sensitive topic and I please ask that if this shouldn’t be posted here, it gets removed or we can be educated. I want to start off by saying my original post and everyone who responded to us helped me and my partner so much with our baby’s diagnosis and we honestly gained a lot of knowledge and understanding from everything everyone shared. So thank you so much.

we went to see the fetal specialist today for in utero surgery. We last saw him a month ago and he said the baby’s chance of needing a shunt is low and for the most part the baby looked like an amazing candidate for surgery. We saw our MFM on Wednesday and she said the baby looked like she was doing so well. Great movement, the hole in her heart was small and not concerning, etc. Today with the specialist we did an MRI and more ultrasounds. (For context I slept 1
Hour between my overnight shift at work and my appointment I don’t know if that affects the baby moving at all) the baby was not really moving her legs on the MRI and the ultrasound. They saw movement in one leg and not much in the other. They said it is not common for the baby’s progress to deteriorate like this and I’m still very early. They said our baby will most likely be wheelchair bound and they gave us our options. (They more so focused on termination which is not something I want to proceed with.) We asked if we could come back another day to see again and see if she was moving her legs this time.

Any comments, advice, anything helps. I just need to talk.

sensitive, sad, lonely, etc

hi if anyone chooses to read this, thank you. I’m 20 weeks tomorrow, our baby has spina bifida and we are aiming for in utero surgery. That means I’ll have to take time off work; regardless of how much time, I’ll be off for some amount that wasn’t originally expected for maternity leave. I have been super graceful in letting my supervisor at work know that there’s for sure time I will be taking off for medical leave, I’m just not sure exactly when and exactly for how long. I show up to work everyday and I seriously give it everything I have. I have a more so complicated job and it is very very complex day to day. I have asked my supervisor to keep all of this information including my health and my babies health, private. Today at work someone mentioned knowing I would be going on a leave pretty soon so I wouldn’t have to worry about something. This person should not whatsoever know this information.

I have chosen not to share information about my babies health with people at work for a reason. A few months ago I got severely harassed by 4 male coworkers and brought it up to HR.

Honestly I am struggling. Between balancing my health, my babies health, working and giving it my all I cannot physically take any more on my plate. I feel insanely alone, I feel like nobody I talk to understands and I feel like nobody sees how truthfully sad I am. I don’t want to say depressed because I am not, I have a reason to keep going everyday and I remind myself of that. I am so down and so alone it’s not even funny.

I just needed to get it all out. I don’t feel like I have anyone I can really talk to.

thank you.

spina bifida

hello everyone. We found out yesterday at 16w and 2d that our baby has spina bifida Myelomeningocele. They had the lemon sign, banana sign, and we could even see the sac on the lower back on the ultrasound. The baby also has clubbed feet. I know it’s the snowflake condition and every baby is different but if anyone has personal stories they feel comfortable sharing or has advice, that would be great.

Right now we are looking toward an amino and in utero surgery if I qualify.

14 weeks

I’m 14 weeks today, the nausea hasn’t stopped, I’m exhausted no matter what, I’ve started getting sharp pains in my pelvic area that come and go, the back pain has stayed bad and I just feel so hopeless. I know everyone’s experience is different and in no way am I ungrateful to be pregnant and having a baby. I was just getting my hopes up hearing everyone say it starts to get better around week 12. I had a breakdown last night because I feel so alone, I feel hopeless, I feel so lazy and I haven’t done anything but work and sleep for months. I feel like I’m failing my partner but not doing my share of housework. I’m in pain and I am just feeling down. I don’t have any pregnant friends or anyone who really understands so I’m ranting here. Thank you to anyone who read this. Comments are welcome and anything helps.

Potential bilateral clubbed feet at nipt ultrasound

hi everyone, I had my nipt ultrasound yesterday and I am 12w 2d. This morning the ultrasound results came back and there’s a potential our baby has bilateral clubbed feet. I am so grateful that the baby looks healthy and I know this will come with many up’s and down’s but I am feeling really optimistic. I think a lot of how the baby will grow up will rely on the parents outlook and us just staying positive while supporting our child. I have watched Ken Cradic’s TikTok’s in the past so I am not a stranger to what this means for our baby’s first 4 years of life. If anyone has any advice for us as parents that would be great. Anything is welcomed and helps!

*edit*: I forgot to add that I know it’s early at 12 weeks but the ultrasound photo which I will not be sharing also made the baby’s foot look like it was slightly turned/twisted.

hello everyone. My dog woke up screaming crying this morning and was barley moving. Later on she was able to move but was still crying intermittently. She is able to walk around and it doesn’t seem like something is wrong with her limbs. We took her to the vet and they told us it would be several hours before she could be seen. She didn’t have any noticeable symptoms at that time because she gets very stressed at the doctors so she was only shaking. We took her back home to monitor her. She is still crying intermittently but we can’t see if anything is wrong with her. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
