Novels that take place in Upper Canada in the 1600s

I'm looking to write a novel that takes place during that time period. I'm looking for books that are about what settlement was like and how they survived the harsh winters, diseases, etc. Any suggestions?

Poirot or Marple

I really like Hercule Poirot. I love his charming personality, his egg shaped head and mustache. That's what I find charming about him as well as the things he says. My favourite books are Murder On The Orient Express and And Then There Were None

Just wondering are any of you here writing books?

Some nonfiction books I read are memoirs and historical. But I don't write it. I prefer to write fiction and poetry.

What's your favourite time period to write and read?

My favourite type of history is Canadian and American history. I like to read about the thirteen colonies, American Civil War, World War l and ll, etc. Mostly modern history. I've read a few Dear Canada diaries, Seeds of America triology by Laurie Halse Anderson and I'm now starting to get into Little House on The Prairies.

Has anyone read the Diary of Anne Frank

About her experience during the holocaust? I find it sad that she had to experience it. She wrote in her diary while hiding. She was eventually sent to a concentration camp where she was killed.
