Has Elder Scrolls lived up to its potential?

Elder Scrolls is my favourite game franchise of all time and it has been ever since I first played Oblivion when I was 11 years old. I fell in love with the setting, the lore, the open ended nature of the game etc. I didn't even know games could be like that.

I used to get excited for the future and imagining how many TES games we would get when I was older, all the provinces we would explore, what the tech would be capable of. Well, sadly that future never really came lol. We got one mainline game after that, Skyrim (I will be 30 in October this year) and TES VI is still far off.

I can't help but feel the franchise has been massively squandered and mishandled by Bethesda. It seems like we've not even scratched the surface of what TES could be, but at the same time its glory days are past. At this point, I mainly love the series for what it 'could be'. Reading about the lore, stories and provinces is more exciting than what we actually get.

The lore is so deep and rich, the setting and characters are so interesting. Where are the novels, spin off games, comics, animated series? (I know we got two novels which I really enjoyed) but still. I'm not saying I want the series to be completely saturated with content, but c'mon. Hell, Fallout gets more love from Bethesda and TES is their baby. "Theres ESO so its not like there isn't high quality content out there."- Todd Howard. Yeah, but its not the same thing Todd and you know it.

Sorry for the rant, its just frustrating man. I'm just sick of this, "just be patient, bro" attitude. Patient? Its a drought here. What company lets their mainline series go 15/16 years without a game or even content. I can't help but feel bitter about the whole thing, it just seems like this could have all be avoided, and there should have been more planning and management around this whole situation as to not let it get to this state.

This ruined my life.

Does anyone have any advice on how to overcome this? I don't know how to continue. I think about my teeth and gums 247. I'm always looking in the mirror and they are constantly inflamed. It has really affected my confidence and self esteem, i cant imagine being in a relaionship ever again. I have this OCD of, it's only a matter of time before my teeth fall out and my life is a race against time. I can never fully relax anymore. I don't want to smile much even know logically I know, people can't really see the recession.

My front gums are always red at the bottom. Knowing I used to have nice white teeth and healthy gums is a real mental barrier I can't get over. This feeling of grief and loss.

I have quite bad recession on the front teeth although the pockets are still mainly intact, but a bit inflamed, so I don't think there's too much bone loss currently.

I've had a gum graft on five teeth and its helped thicken up the tissue but the recession is still visible somewhat, and my gums just hurt and feel horrible all the time. It's all too much sometimes.

Why are the Imperial Sewers full of enemies?

So, is there an in universe explanation for why the sewers are essentially abandoned and full of enemies? Surely, they would need to be maintained, being a key part of the Imperial City's plumbing and waste system. Why are they full of vampires, goblins and other nasties. I get the odd rat or mudcrab but there's full vampire clans living down there lol.

I know the real reason is Bethesda didn't think too hard about it and just wanted the player to have cool stuff to fight, much like how every fort and cave is inhabited by the worst kind of creatures and degenerates lmao. There's not even toilets in the game so sewers don't even make sense.

Any hope for the future of Periodontal treatment?

Does anyone know what the future is looking like in terms of research/treatment in the Periodontal field?

I remember reading a year ago there were trials for regrowing teeth, bone and dvancement in stem cell research for gum regeneration. It seems the near future is fairly bright for it but who knows. I'm hoping something can be done in my lifetime as this disease is extremely depressing and ruined my confidence. I've had a gum graft but still have inflamed gums and some recession. Its on my mind 247.

I ordered the new experimental new toothpaste from Germany which helps to kill bad bacteria and promote the good. (We will see if this helps at all) but the research seems promising. It's a new product and is limited in production currently.

Anyone else find vampires terrifying?

I don't know if it's because I first played Oblivion when I was 11 years old, but does anyone else find vampires in this game to be terrifying?

The post about a conspiracy of vampires running the Imperial City inspired me to make this. Ever since I played the quest 'Order of the Virtuous Blood' when I was young, they have scared me to death.

I remember walking up to Roland Jenseric's cabin thinking he was the vampire, almost shaking with fear as an 11 year old. Then hunting down the Altmer, who is the true vampire, in his cave full of brethren. Discovering that fighting vampires can give you the disease always made things so tense, you have this fear and disgust response. Anytime you enter a dungeon, there's this sense of 'I hope there's not vampires in here'. And then when fighting them, 'get away from me!"

The ominous message 'you have contracted Porphyric Hemophilia' always gives me a chill up the spine, and then sleeping and waking up to the horrifying message: "You dream of a sleeping person, and a figure moves over the person, giving a bite on the neck. You see the face of the sleeping person and realize it is your face. You wake up screaming." Disturbing stuff.

I remember trapesing about in the rain, feeling deperate, looking for the Witch which starts the vampirism cure questline, and then finding out Count Hassildor was a vampire blew my 11 year old mind. And don't get me started on realising vampires live underneath the Arena Bloodworks. The Pale lady torturing prisoners is also nightmare fuel, and you don't ever want to encounter a Vampire Orc.

And then there's the physical changes to your character too which make Oblivion's cursed character models even creepier.

What I'm trying to convey is that there is a real dark underbelly feeling to Oblivion. Just below the surface, underneath this 'civilised' society, it feels as if evil, darkness and corruption lives in the shadows. Vampires seem to be everywhere, in places of authority, factions, caves or just living underneath the city you inhabit. There's a really cool, Gothic, dracular vibe which blends well with Oblivion's traditional European esque setting.

As a kid, games are so much more immersive, more visceral and real to you. So this may play a part in why they still scare me today. Those memories and (trauma lol) but regardless, I think they are still very creepy and well done in Oblivion. More so than any other game to me.

Did you know its possible to like something and still have problems with it? I love Oblivion OG and I love Oblivion Remastered. Both have pros and cons. I know it gets clicks to speak in hyperbole these days. Everything is either "literally worse thing ever!!!!" Or "game of the decadddeee, masterpiece!!" or "OBLIVION REMASTERED IS SLOP ETC."

But, to play devil's advocate, there is a lot I love about Oblivion Remastered and things i dislike too. Amazing, isn't it? A nuanced opinion. Oblivion is my favourite game of all time but to be honest, I find it hard to return to the original now gameplay wise. I still love the old art style and think it's superior but the new Remastered is also beautiful in its own way. Orcs and Khajiit look pretty terrible but the Elves and Human races look fantastic. Some of the new voice acting adds a lot and is welcome, but some characters that they changed are worse e.g 'Methredel, 'cliff racer' guy. I miss the old Argonian/Khajiit guy too, even though the new one is great as well. The combat is a lot more engaging too. Some of the new creature/character designs I prefer, and some I think the OG does better.

I know people say Remastered was just rushed out, but If you look through the artbook for the game, you can tell there was obvious love and passion for the game. Beautiful art and all new assets for everything built from the ground up. But as with all entertainment, higher ups call the shots and its a business at the end of the day.

I get it, I have a love/hate relationship with remakes. It can be a slippery slope. I don't like this rewriting of history that happens with remaking games. There is also censorship in the game. Putting pants on zombies, e.g Lucien Lachance mutilated body being covered up which is laughable, clear defeminising of female bodies on statues etc. Its not good. Ive also encountered more bugs in this than the OG and I know a lot of people have performance issues on PC. A lot of this stuff needs fixing and its pretty inexcusable.

But overall, I think Remastered is excellent and there was clearly passionate people who worked on the game. As far as Remasters go, its pretty fantastic. They knew what made the original special and were careful to change just enough to make it fresh, without ruining the feel of the OG. It just annoys me how you can't have an opinion on the game without you either being a 'fanboy' or 'chud'. At the end of the day, it's a 20 year old game. It's dated in a lot of ways and other ways it holds up well.

Hey everyone, I'm English and have a youtube channel. Last year, I recieved a 'Foreign Person's US source income subject to withholding letter.' I ignored it as I didn't think it was relevant to me as I'm not a US citizen.

However, I've just received another one and I'm worried this needs filling out. I don't understand, there's nothing on my Adsense about it so I'm just confused what I need to do.

edit-noticed on Adsense, manage tax information is under United States not UK.

I remember a comment saying the Mods on the Discord for 'Oblivion Remastered Suggestions' said another patch is coming, but they can't say anymore. Is this true?

Obviously Cyrodil was originally more of a jungle/tropical climate, which makes more sense next to Morrowind, but how does a temperate, green, foresty, European esque climate exist next to Morrowind, which always struck me as a hot, almost tropical climate with deserts and giant mushrooms? Skyrim is also basically Scandinavian and next to a desert in Hammerfell, which I suppose can make sense if Skyrim is a lot higher up.

I know the scale is off in the games so the provinces are much larger and cover more distances, and it would make sense if the geography slowly changed the closer you get to the border of Morrowind from Cyrodiil, but it doesnt really. It seems like tropical, desert environment is plopped down right next to European forest land. What would be in the in universe explanation?
