Hello.

3 months ago I contracted ocular herpes, because I scratched my eye, whilst I was putting on my contact lenses. I felt intense pain in the right eye, but I feel it occasionally when I put on contact lenses so I just ignored it. This time though it was a lot more acute and lasted more than 24 hours. The next day I went to the emergency room and had it checked. They told me that, it was just an eye inflammation and that it should be gone in one week and gave me some medicine. Fast forward 2 weeks and it had only gotten worse, the pain was absolutely unbearable and I went to an ophtalmogist. We started treatment with different antibiotics and eye ointments but still I feel no progress has been made. I can't look at any light at all which has made me home-bound for almost 3 months now. Sometimes I can read a few pages from a book before my eye starts hurting and I know I have to stop. I try going out at night but even the street lights "burn" my eyes. The pain has subsided but it comes back from time to time. I am really worried that I might lose my vision permanently or that I will have to get my right eye removed in the end.

What is your experience with this if you have had any relatives, friends, acquaintances or patients that have had this?
