I'm lost

I'm lost

Okay so my tube popped so I took the wheel off, replaced the tube, and put the wheel back on. Now the rear derailleur is completely messed up. I've been trying to tinker with it for like an hour to no avail. It's a Shimano acera x. Please help this beginner out lol I'm sure it's not too complicated!

Gear shifter clip stuck

I started changing my gear shifter today and when I got to screwing the cable on the back wheel, this little clip thing(I’m sorry I don’t know the terminology, I’m not experienced) won’t budge at all even when the screw is loose. It was fine when I put the cable in first, but when I went back to tweak it it wouldn’t move. How to get it loose?

Update & additional questions on post: Shimano Altus cassette tool and compatible replacement cassette

Solved! Thanks a lot for the great support Redditors!

Update one previous post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/BikeRepair/s/cASyWOzd94

After some delays I tried to remove to old freewheel. Since my tool didn’t fit over the nut of the axis, I removed it including parts of the ball bearing.

The tool seems to fit properly, but even with almost unreasonable (at least in my inexperienced opinion) force I can’t unscrew the freewheel.

I tried to turn counterclockwise, didn’t work.
I cleaned with isopropanol and afterwards used WD40 to break up potential rust. Didn’t work.
I used a torch to heat it up (carefully, at least as careful as you can be with a torch), didn’t work.
I used a hammer in the direction of the axis to break open any potential rust (also with reasonable force), didn’t work.
Then, after an uneducated guess of a third party I tried to turn clockwise even if I thought it was not logical, didn’t work.

Now I’m out of ideas how to remove the freewheel.

Hence I have two questions:

I used a video of parktool recommended in my first post to identify the correct tool.
Can anybody confirm that the tool is correct or if another tool is requires?
There are two small holes (red arrows) that could be a possibility and also some notches (green arrow) some ring close to the smallest sprocket, please see pictures.

Does anybody have a recommendation how to remove the freewheel without destroying anything in this situation? (The bike is a daily driver, so if I would break the wheel that would be a real issue (on top of the trial to minimise investments into this bike…)

I’d be very thankful for your further support on this, I’m really out of ideas…

Additional info: after cleaning it was possible to read the brand and some other info on the freewheel:

Mechanic used high-strength threadlocker on my BSA bottom bracket – should I be concerned?

My mechanic recently removed and reinstalled the threaded BSA bottom bracket on my Cube Aim EX. He told me there was already threadlocker on the bottom bracket threads, so he applied fresh Würth high-strength threadlocker (“Schraubensicherung hochfest”) during reassembly.

The bike works perfectly and the cranks spin smoothly with no play or unusual resistance.

However, I’m wondering whether using high-strength threadlocker on BSA bottom bracket threads is appropriate. Could this cause problems when the bottom bracket needs to be removed in the future?

Would you leave it as it is, or remove the BB now, clean the threads and reinstall it with grease or a different compound?

Tool question for Bike Mechanics

Which brand alternatives to Park Tool would you suggest? Sure, having all the blue tools is cool and all, but for someone who doesn't use them for a living, is there a more cost-effective brand you'd recommend?
Also, why do bike shops and bike shop mechanics prefer peg-board walls over a toolbox like an auto mechanic? Is it because the 'Park Tool Wall' adds style points? is it a convenience thing? is it a cost thing?

Chainring and bolt rubbing carbon BB shell - Kona Libre CR 2022

I am in need for your advice :-) The inner chainring and one of its bolts are rubbing against my carbon BB shell. I already tried centering the small chainring, but with no success — there is still basically zero clearance on one side.

What should I check or replace? Could this be a BB/crank issue?

Kona Libre CR 2022 with stock Prowheel RPP-521-TT 46/30 + Prowheel PW-BB86/PF86 + 24 mm spindle.

Thanks! :-)

Can this bike be salvaged?

Flair: Bike Repair / Kids Bikes / Advice

I’m not exactly able to afford a whole bike right now, and the need for A mode of transportation to widen my job possibilities is fairly urgent.

I found this bike someone put to be thrown out last night. I figured it’s worth a shot to try to restore this as it doesn’t look in too bad condition. Methinks it was on a balcony for a while.

Despite being a “kid’s bike” I’m fairly small and can fit it. It also helps with space being a premium in this apartment. I also know almost nothing about bikes, but I figured a ~200 dollar pice tag up front would hurt way more than 20 dollars here and there and repairing it when I have disposable income.

I believe the front tire is flat too, though the pictures don’t really show it.

Can this bike be salvaged?

Front wheel and handlebars not connected to frame correctly and I'm lost

I got this bike in seemingly perfect condition three days ago, the guy loosened the handlebars via the not facing directly upwards then tapped on it to loosen which freed the wheel from the frame, since getting it home I have put back on in the exact order directed and tightened every nut I can to the furthest point I comfortably can without fear of stripping threading but I don't know the first thing about bikes aside from tighten the loose bits so I need assistance. Any if I turn the handlebars too fast the wheel either stays where it is or it will move and simply come loose and start wobbling independent of the handlebars. My theory is I have to take the handlebars off completely and adjust the connection point between them I just don't wanna fuck something up in the meantime.

My tube popped minutes after putting it on

My back tire was starting to go bald, so I just switched it out with an old one my dad had and the tube it had. Both the tube and tire were sitting fine on the old rim but once i fit it onto mine, it pop, and then I buy a new one, which pops only minutes after i put it on. Ive repaird and replaced tubes before and never had this issue. Is it possible that the old tire is the issue?

Can I use motorcycle fork oil in my RockShox Revelation forks?

Technical spec states that it should be 5wt, will this stuff from eBay be correct?

How to remove dust cap off cup and cone front wheel hub cones?

Bought new cones, I think a small flat head screwdriver, lightly pry around open to pop off?

What direction should I pry to, and pry from? (Is there a direction they come off)
Trying not to bend and wreck them for potential future use if need be.

And I think front wheel cones and symmetrical? I can use either on either side, why was one packaged up like this if it's the front and they are interchangeable?

Thank you.

MTB drive train issues

I bought a used bike from a retailer on eBay. The bike is in the general condition for what I expected but the drivetrain is not running smooth.

Before I go back to the retailer, I'd like some opinions/advice so I don't just get fobbed off.

Firstly, is this chain too long in highest gear?

https://photos.app.goo.gl/RCzoBnzhcdakwaYr6

Secondly, in lowest gear what seems to be the issue here - is this a hi/lo adjustment issue or possibly a cable tension issue?

Rear wheel won't spin freely

As the title suggests, I have this issue with my bike anytime I have to take the wheel off. It seems to be because of the rear pads keep rubbing against the rim. I've tried tightening/loosing the brake pad adjustment screw but it hasn't helped. I also want to make the rear brakes sharper. Can someone help please?

Would a bike repair shop help me find this missing piece? (the missing piece that has been circled in black)

1st image is my rear brake
2nd image is the replacement piece for the missing black piece. the front breaks kinda-ish works but the rear breaks are a strong one.
3rd image is the rear side

I was tempting to buying a replacement for it (recommend by gemini because I didn't know what the missing piece was called)

I am so confused by this rear gear problem. Any suggestions?

Apologies, as I am extremely new to cycling, but i just don't understand how to fix this. I have a shimano claris and the rear seems to be out of alignment with the gears, causing the chain to slip put of the jockey thing.

I've done some googling and using the barrely adjusters and the b screw don't seem to do enough to put it back in alignment. I think the casing of the rear itself is twisted but I don't understand why or how I correct it. It doesn't look like anything has snapped or bent, so I should be able to adjust it myself with some guidance.

Appreciate your guidance in advance.
