Mechanic used high-strength threadlocker on my BSA bottom bracket – should I be concerned?
My mechanic recently removed and reinstalled the threaded BSA bottom bracket on my Cube Aim EX. He told me there was already threadlocker on the bottom bracket threads, so he applied fresh Würth high-strength threadlocker (“Schraubensicherung hochfest”) during reassembly.
The bike works perfectly and the cranks spin smoothly with no play or unusual resistance.
However, I’m wondering whether using high-strength threadlocker on BSA bottom bracket threads is appropriate. Could this cause problems when the bottom bracket needs to be removed in the future?
Would you leave it as it is, or remove the BB now, clean the threads and reinstall it with grease or a different compound?
