I’ve lost £30,000 over 6 years. Tonight, an £80 loss finally woke me up.

For six years, I’ve been stuck in this cycle. I’ve lost around £30,000 to this addiction. But tonight, it wasn't a massive blowout that woke me up. It was just an £80 loss. And for some reason, sitting there looking at a zero balance again, something in my brain finally snapped.

I suddenly thought about what I'm actually doing, and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Imagine someone comes up to you and says, "Give me your hard-earned money for the next six years. I guarantee you'll lose almost all of it. But to say thanks, I’ll occasionally toss you a $5 tip."

You’d think they were insane and walk away.

Then they say, "Wait! Once every few years, I’ll randomly hand you a chunk of your cash back so you feel like you're winning!"

In the real world, no one would ever take that deal. We'd see it for exactly what it is: a scam.

But because these websites wrap that exact same scam in flashing lights and call it a casino, I’ve been willingly handing over my money for years.

I finally see the "VIP bonuses" and weekly rakebacks for what they really are. They aren't gifts. They are leashes. They are specifically designed to stop you from hitting the delete button when your account hits zero. I’ve stayed hooked for years just waiting for tiny crumbs of my own money to be handed back to me.

I'm done being played. Tonight, I deleted all my VPNs, wiped my crypto wallets, and blocked every route I had to these sites.

I want my peace of mind back. I want to wake up in the morning without feeling that awful pit in my stomach. Giving them my money is the most idiotic thing I could possibly do with my life, and I'm finally walking away.

Day 1 starts now.

Szechuan Sauce...

Damn you, Rick!

What an absolute letdown.

It's my own fault for not doing my research before ordering, but it's basically soy sauce.

Glad I ordered the spicy mayo and smoky BBQ as extras.

Honestly, how long is this going to take? (prepared for downvotes)

2 months on the platform, $400 earned. Generalist from the UK.

I know this will get downvoted into the abyss, but it's starting to get on my nerves how few projects I'm getting.

I've earned $14 in the last 2 weeks. That's $1 a day.

I'm refreshing my dashboard hundreds of times a day, and the only projects I'm getting are either ones I'm not qualified for or US-only ones.

I'm seeing people who have only just started on the platform (generalists from the UK) with endless projects to choose from.

I'll take the downvotes, but I'd love for someone to give me some hope. I know it's not the DoD, but it f***ing feels like it!

Had to exit task after 90 minutes because it was too difficult

I was finally added to a project family today after my first few weeks of unpaid qualifications and short-lived tasks.

I read through the instructions thrice.

Seemed pretty intense, but I wanted to give it a go.

I spent 90 minutes on task, but I couldn't wrap my head around some of the things they wanted.

After contemplating carrying on, giving it my best shot & submitting the work, I decided to exit.

Not going to risk submitting poor work so early on in my DA career.

Just sucks. 90 minutes down the drain, but my account health might thank me down the road.

I also don't want to submit anything that could skew results for researchers.

Taking a hit to the ego on this one. Just wondering if anyone has done something similar?

Submitting time for task instructions that took less than 1 minute

Hey, just a quick question here. I opened a project today, read through the instructions, and it took about 3 minutes. When I went to submit and begin the next task, it sent me back to the dashboard and asked me to log my time. I logged 3 minutes, and then the same project popped up on my dashboard. Obviously, it took me less time to read through it this time since I'd just read it, so I completed the short task & clicked "submit and begin next task". That one took less than 30 seconds, but it's asked me again to report the time. Should I just leave it & let it expire?
