How to plan for a Masters in Computer Vision and related courses abroad after 4 years of work ex?
my_qualifications: BTech in Applied Maths and Computing (2.47/4.0 GPA, 2021, India). BTech : 6.19 cgpa == 2.47/4.0 12th : 87.2% 10th : 9.8 cgpa
Hi guys, I have been working as a software dev for the last 4 years. I started as a C++ developer, worked on it for 2 years and since then have been trying to transition into Computer Vision and AI.
I have worked on visualization and morphing of Meshes with C++ (Basic computer graphics and computational geometry). I have worked with Django and delivered production level applications involving ML microservices for object detection and classification ( Basic AI usage stuff). I am currently earning around 25 LPA (base) in India.
I now want to pursue a masters in Computer Sciences, primarily in the field of intersection of AI and Computer Graphics/Visual Computing/HCI/Computer Vision/Robotics/Computational Sciences, or any other interdisciplinary field. The motivation is to be at the frontier of AI development and subsequently enhance my domain knowledge which I have acquired through my work and academic experience.
I am not much clear about my path after my masters degree. I may get into a PhD or take up a research role in a private entity. I am clear that I am not planning to stay abroad until and unless the research opportunities are quite good.
I have handpicked a few colleges which I am trying to target:
Carnegie Melon
Georgia Tech
KAIST
ETH Zurich
University of Michigan
University of Washington
NTU (Singapore)
EPFL
TU Munich
I have prepared this list using csrankings.org.
Constraints:
I am 26 years old.
Low Budget
GPA : 2.4
Fragmented work-ex
Now I have the following questions regarding my decision and the target colleges:
Considering my constraints, am I being too ambitious in my selection of colleges? Out of these, what admits are achievable? What would be some realistic targets to pursue?
Should I prepare for GATE and get into IITs/IISc for MTech? Or is the preparation and hustle not worth it?
How likely is it to get full scholarships in any of these universities?
On csrankings.org, I have seen that a lot of Chinese universities have such a large number of publications dwarfing the US universities. So, would it be a good choice to pursue masters from China?
German public Universities have no tuition fees which will be very suitable for me, but are those good enough for doing frontier research in the mentioned fields?
Should I have clarity about my path after the masters?
