8HP or 1HP AC for a 5sqm Bedroom + Occasionally Cooling a 13sqm Sala?

Hi guys! Need some advice on aircon sizing.

Our condo has two bedrooms (5 sqm each) and a combined sala + kitchen that’s around 13 sqm. The ceiling is pretty low, so the overall air volume isn’t that big.

The problem is the sala doesn’t have an aircon provision, so I can’t install a separate AC there.

For now, I’m only planning to install an AC in one of the bedrooms. I feel like a 1 HP unit might be overkill for a 5 sqm bedroom, but I’m also thinking of leaving the bedroom door open sometimes so it can help cool the sala area (13 sqm) too.

Would it make more sense to get a 1 HP instead of a 0.8 HP?

I also don’t know yet how often I’ll actually use it to cool the sala. Most of the time, it’ll probably just be for nighttime use in the bedroom.

For those who have a similar setup, will my electric bill be significantly higher if I get a 1 HP and mostly use it only for the bedroom? Or should I just stick with a 0.8 HP and accept that it probably won’t be enough if I want some cooling in the sala?

Would appreciate your thoughts and real-world experiences. Thanks!

Need Help Registering for Taobao China App (Mainland Version)

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to register for the mainland China version of Taobao. While the international version is available through the App Store, I’d like to browse the China version since it seems to have a much wider selection of products.

I was able to get through part of the registration process using my Facebook account, but after logging in, it asks me to enter a password. The problem is that I was never prompted to create one, so I’m stuck and can’t proceed.

I’ve searched through this subreddit and a few other forums but haven’t found a clear step-by-step guide for this specific issue.

Has anyone successfully registered for the China version recently? How do you set up the password when signing in through Facebook, or is there another registration method that’s recommended for international users?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Looking for advice on Panasonic CW-XU925JPH 1.0 HP for a very small condo room

Hi everyone,

I can only install a window-type air conditioner on my rental. After reading a lot of comments from technicians and homeowners, I became interested in the Panasonic CW-XU925JPH 1.0 HP inverter because many people seem to regard Panasonic as one of the most durable brands.

My concern is that my bedroom is very small—around 93 inches × 90 inches (roughly 58 sq ft / 5.4 sq m) with a standard ceiling height.

Would a 1.0 HP inverter be overkill for a room this size?

I’ve read mixed opinions. Some say an inverter will simply throttle down and run efficiently, while others say oversized units can lead to short cycling, poor humidity control, and unnecessary upfront cost.

Questions:

Is 1.0 HP too much for a room this small?

Will the inverter be able to reduce capacity enough to operate efficiently?

Would you still choose this Panasonic over smaller units from other brands?

How has your electricity consumption been with this model?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

MUJI Rubberwood Veneer Bed Owners: Any issues with chipping or peeling?

Hi everyone,

I’m specifically looking at the MUJI Rubberwood Veneer Single Bed and would love to hear from anyone who has owned one long-term.

My main concern is the use of rubberwood veneer. How has it held up over the years? Does the veneer chip, peel, scratch, or wear away easily with normal use? How durable is it compared to solid wood furniture?

I’d especially appreciate feedback from owners who have had the bed for quite sometime . Any issues with durability, stability, creaking, or overall build quality?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!
