I set myself a little challenge: to paint a bust using only three colors. It’s an interesting experience—mixing paints while focusing on light rather than color. I’ll have to try it again with a different combination sometime. Final photos and some WIPs

I rarely paint spacemarines (or wh40k) and don't really common with lore but recently i've got chance to paint one, friend gave me miniature and i choose red boys (as my wife loves them). Hope you like it.
Also added some wip' photos to follow due process.

As a hobby painter (not a pro) i really had such a little time to spend on painting that i'm trying to aprecciate every moment i have. Lately i spend approx 2 hours on this awesome bust by Asa Sculpts (Recently i already've painted it in more traditional skin scheme), and wanted to share some progress i made, from pretty rough and ugly sketch to some smoothness. Even at this stage i feel satisfied because i could spend some time with brush)

So I painted the last bust in the series and wanted to share my thoughts after three works. Initially, I wanted to paint them as I usually do, essentially like a coloring book— put colors on the elements, a little general lighting and done. But then I decided it was worth stepping out of my comfort zone, trying new things, and challenge myself.
So, I decided to focus on volume and light, not details, transitions, and other things that eat up time and motivation to continue (I tends to dive into all small and unnecessary things while totally forgetting about whole picture).
This bust took me about 5 hours, and I got a tremendous amount of pleasure I'd forgotten existed. I just sat down and wasn't afraid to ruin the work, miss a spot, or other little things that suck me in like a swamp. I think I'll continue to practice these kinds of sketchy works from time to time.

On this one i wanted to step up my painting game and try something new, something that will break my brain) almost all the time i paint simple "Studio" kind of light, now it's time to challenge myself.

Will make some touches later but as it's a learning tool - i will not smooth it all around. Got my lesson and can move on. That was fun

Fell in love with this awesome sculpt by Asa sculpts, so made this piece during master class. Hope skin is creditable because mostly I paint green one😅
