Planning for the inevitable

After a great deal of thought and prayer, my wife and I are interested in a direct cremation. I think I would like a pre-need so that my son does not face a lot of decision-making, etc.
He’s our son and the only family member that might care.

Couple of questions:

  1. Do I use a facility that has its own retort? (saving on transportation and storage etc).
2)Who do I call when the death occurs, most likely at home under hospice care
  2. Can I pay for the necessities and let my son pay for any extras like a memorial service if he wants to.
  3. What am I missing?
  4. Is there a better way to go about this?
  5. We are in the DFW area and our son lives in South Carolina
    Thanks for any suggestions-

Better AirPods (Apple or other)

I have second gen AirPods one of them is A2031. I’m looking to replace these with another pair of AirPods that has better bass response and generally sounds better than what I have. My primary purpose is music (all types).

Hopefully you can make a recommendation.
Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Pro-rated refund?

I am discontinuing my subscription to Monarch Money in my second year. Does MM offer a pro-rated refund.
I doubt it but thought I would ask here.

Thank!

Soundbar AX3120Q problem

This appears on the front of the soundbar. It is a little too bright and is distracting particularly when the room is dark. The soundbar is working with a HISENSE TV if that makes a difference.
Is there a way to dim this or turn it off?
I can’t seem to locate a place in the manual to do it.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

How can I get my brother’s remains?

My brother is autistic and has terminal cancer. He has a pre-need funeral plan. He’s expected to die within a year and I am going to have him cremated. (I have POA). He is in a group home and has entered hospice.

He will be cremated in Maryland and I am in Texas. I am unable to travel due to health issues. The funeral home says that due to “liability issues” they do not ship cremated remains even though it’s legal by USPS.

Two questions:

  1. What are done with the remains if they are never picked up?
  2. Are there services that will pick up the ashes and ship them to me?

Any suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated!
