No, not movies about actual twins.

I’m talking about when two studios have movies on the same topic or maybe in the same genre and each side wants to get it in theaters before the other (as a side note, the one that had less buzz often ends up being the ’winner,’ it seems).

Tombstone and Kevin Costner’s Wyatt Earp is probably the best example of what I’m talking about.

There was the case of Armageddon and Deep Impact (one about a comet threatening earth, the other an asteroid).

I can’t recall which ones, but I seem to remember a similar case with a couple of baseball films, and maybe Westerns?

Seems to happen every so often, figured I’d make a thread on the topic and see what the r/movies community could come up with.

Hi all.

A veteran of many beach trips to Panama City area, usually spend a week per year there. Going down this Sunday.

I’ve had some decent seafood gumbo … but not any that I’’d call great or even really, really good. (And as the title says, I’m talking seafood gumbo here, not chicken or a mix of chicken and seafood.

So I’d like some suggestions. Who has the best, and what do you like about it?

Did they just run out of NIL money before baseball got to spend any?

Spending spree got them a CFB playoff spot, a WCWS final and a basketball team that was at least a dark horse Final Four contender (beat Arizona, Duke and Houston before losing best player to injury and falling apart) … but a losing record in baseball.

Can someone clue me in? Seems like baseball is a sport Texas Tech would want to be good at.

If Troy beats Florida again today, we will have two non-seeds/non-hosts in a super.

I guess Troy was a higher/better seed in the regional, so does that mean they host? I guess we have the same question with Milwaukee if they beat Auburn and play Ole Miss?

How do they determine that? And how would they make that determination if two regional 2-seeds or 3-seeds or 4-seeds advanced to play each other? Coin flip?

I always come down for a week every summer and like to get in a couple rounds of mini golf. I’ve played them all, or at least most of them.

I like the Coconut Creek courses (they just added a new one a year or two ago) — good music selection and the courses are well-kept and clean. Drawback for day play is zero shade.

And Goofy Golf is just fun — terrible condition as it’s like 50 or 75 years old and they mostly just patch the paper mache on all the creatures, but fun photos and two really cool courses.

Pirates Island is the other one I’d rate on the top tier. Hidden Lagoon is too basic and for me lacks fun elements.
