Vulgus Ostentem Virtutus claims a brace of Warlords with called shots to the head.

First engine kill for Vulgus Ostentem Virtutus is another Warmaster.

Double targeted shots to the head at close range did the job, with Fusion, Track damage, and maximal fire some rolls were in the mid 20s.

A truly Vulgar Display of Power by Legio Pantera.

I got an early charge off with the Lion but it’s questionable wether I picked the right target.

I was unable to kill the Vindicator with shooting so I ended up charging it to take out that blast, and get 2 VPs instead on 1 for the tacs.

However this stopped me from consolidating further into the softest part of his lines, and staying of range of Mortartions counter charge and it almost cost me.

In the end I was able to bring Mortarion down after 6 rounds of combat when he finally failed his last save with the Lion on 1 wound.

The combat was really interesting, I opted to kill is champion with the Lion, and then wipe out the Deathshrouds twice winning combat by 4 and hoping to break him on res. But he passed both and he was ahead on damaging my Primarch for a round.

The management of combat res is a welcome new addition that really goes well with challenges. I love this part of 3rd.

A really funny detail was that since one companion survived the combat, he was feeding Morty Reaping blow, while Morty chose not to attack him to keep this advantage making 9 attacks. The only thing that saved me was the God stat WS.

The companion was probably voxing the Lion “My lord how do you want me to help you defeat the pale king?”

The Lions response “point your bolter to your temple and pull the trigger” hahah
